English carries its scars openly: Germanic roots, French sheen, Latin sprawl. Maybe that’s why its literature is so alive — each line is a small rebellion against its own patchwork. But when you speak it in its oldest voice — short words, clear beats, earth-made tones — the “ugliness” melts into something stark, honest, and strangely beautiful.

You can make English more pretty by only wielding Germanic words. One thing that is pretty about tongues with one forebear, like German or Chinese, is that words for many-folded thoughts are made up of small bits in the same tongue, so you can understand a big word by looking at each bit. Most English is not like that, but you can write it that way if you want to! The tongue feels more "down to earth" if you do. CC @theanglishtimes

English is an ugly language. English literature is beautiful because each work reflects a Sisyphian struggle against the intrinsic ugliness of the medium

Google is becoming Apple -- the vertical integration. OpenAI is becoming Google -- the killer app. History says the interface usually wins.

As a Pro user, I see subtle but consistent gains across the board. Feels like OpenAI is tuning it to be just “slightly better” everywhere—enough to stay ahead while scaling at the lowest cost possible.

GPT-5 is more impressive than it seems. It’s the only consumer AI approaching a billion users—everything else is a rounding error.

@dcinvestor Totally agree. ETF and DAT inflows create a structural bid that short-term traders keep underestimating. The market microstructure is evolving faster than most realize — and it’s one-way capital flow.

what's gonna happen over the next few months (and even years) is CT will sell every dip and ETF buyers and DATs will buy it. then not sell it anytime soon or ever it's structural market change which most participants here have not yet picked up on a bit sad to watch this place get drained out like this, but i suppose it was inevitable

7/ History doesn’t repeat, but it rhymes. TCP/IP unified the first web. EVM will unify the second. Everything else is noise. -- End of the storm

6/ In reality: Web1.x → Internet phase (from static pages to social apps, still TCP/IP) Web2 → Blockchain phase (general-purpose EVM platform) The next era isn’t “3.0” — it’s the second web entirely.

1/ Let’s rename Web3 to Web2. There are only two webs in history: The Internet — powered by TCP/IP The Blockchain — powered by EVM

Cognition
Cognition@cognition·
Cognition has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Windsurf. The acquisition includes Windsurf’s IP, product, trademark and brand, and strong business. Above all, it includes Windsurf’s world-class people, whom we’re privileged to welcome to our team. We are also honoring their talent and hard work in building Windsurf into the great business it is today. This transaction is structured so that 100% of Windsurf employees will participate financially. They will also have all vesting cliffs waived and will receive fully accelerated vesting for their work to date. At Cognition we have focused on developing robust and secure autonomous agents, while Windsurf has pioneered the agentic IDE. Devin + Windsurf are a powerful combination for the developers we serve. Working side by side, we’ll soon enable you to plan tasks in an IDE powered by Devin’s codebase understanding, delegate chunks of work to multiple Devins in parallel, complete the highest-leverage parts yourself with the help of autocomplete, and stitch it all back together in the same IDE. Cognition and Windsurf are united behind a shared vision for the future of software engineering, and there’s never been a better time to build. Welcome to our new colleagues from Windsurf!
