@0xreself why not use typst?

Why isnt there a good latex writing program with ai integration? I am not a good writer, so formulating my thoughts in a paragraph and let a LLM rewrite it to be fluent and correct would be so great. Current workflow is copy pasting from LLM to overleaf and back...

试着用了一下 antfu 做的 Slidev，用 markdown 做 slides 还是很有趣的 好处在于定制 template 很方便，加动画也可以一键生成，或许很适合熟悉 vue 的人 不过对于我这种不熟悉 web 开发的人来说，用 css / html 做排版还是会有点困难，导出为 ppt 的方式是截屏这一点也是比较简单粗暴，后续在其他地方用就没办法修改了x 不过以这种方式用 AI 生成 slides 确实是个好思路，或许之后会试试生成 latex beamer？毕竟最近 latex 还是更熟悉一些

so it turns out NotebookLM can now "create a presentation", but the presentation it creates is a sequence of images. And when you export it to .pptx, it creates one where each slide is one big image. and the only way to edit the content or style or anything is via commands to the NotebookLM agent who will create new images. who wants this? why do it this way? it seems wrong to me on so many levels.

@gen0m1cs Obviously fiction, non fiction, and social sciences. My math learning shit is half in a pile of papers on my desk half in typst on my desktop and I mostly work from PDFs not physical books.

I’ve discovered what I think is the best combo for system-generated documents. Typst handles some *very* complex layouts, no problem.

@dervalguillaume My coauthor on this paper tried it, and says he likes it. I personally haven't tried. IIUC, Typst doesn't provide syntax compatibility with LaTeX (and MathJax) even for basic formulas, which I think is a stupid decision and a non-starter (if true). …

OK, great… because we used the “cleveref” package which is no longer maintained and arXiv compiles by default with TeXLive 2025, our internal references are broken: instead of saying “theorem 4.17”, it says “anything 4.17”. 😭 Not unreadable, but still very annoying. 😡

@natolambert Love the idea, I used typst for similar reasons, but never got used to the syntax So give it a try!

I built an agi-pilled/agent native slides tool for academics. Builds to html/pdf with code, math, bib, charts all included. I've been using it for my RLHF course, looking for early testers! Be free of the ugly hell of google slides and powerpoint :) natolambert/colloquium

@DarkSapiens @tramuntanal @hsocasnavarro @pcoffeebreak No conozco typst, pero por lo que parece la calidad del resultado es comparable a la de Word, sobre todo en matemáticas, muy inferior a TeX/LaTeX. Así que no hay competencia posible. Nunca typst reemplazará a LaTeX, predigo.
