Big day at the state track and field decathlon. Major Newman is state champion with a school record 5554 points and Zane Bonham finishes a strong third. On to Murfreesboro!

On the girls side, Charlotte Tymon (3rd), Keirstin Ensminger (4th), and Sadie Rupert (6th) had strong performances at the sectional decathlon are potential at-large state meet qualifiers.

Congratulations to Major Newman for winning the Class A East Section Decathlon on Tuesday, our 1st qualifier for the state track meet. Zane Bonham finished a strong 4th and Caedon Jackson was 8th. Both are awaiting possible at-large state meet bids.

Congratulations to the following AHS track team members for being named to the Tennessee Sports Writers Association 2021 All State team: Jordan Harris (long jump), Major Newman (triple jump), Abdul Jaber (1600 and 3200 meters), Braxton Baumann (discus), & Jude Green (decathlon)

Congratulations to Jude Green, Landon Ford, and Braxton Baumann, who finished 2nd, 4th, and 5th respectively in the state track & field decathlon today, earning the first team points for AHS in the state track meet. Competition continues on Tuesday in Murfreesboro.

Please pray for Lester Whitted, a member of our Alcoa Track & Field family, during this very difficult time. His father, Lester Whitted, Sr., passed away today.

Sad to report that the TSSAA has cancelled all spring sports and spring sports championships for the 2020 season. Thank you to all of our athletes for their hard work so far this season, and a special thank you to our seniors for your commitment to the AHS Track & Field Program!
