It will always make me proud the people within the game who found what I had to say of value (and the levels at which they work at!). The account never really reached as many people as I initially had hoped, but it made me a better communicator.

Soma is a multi-functional player. Played as upper mid (like with🇺🇸 in U17WC) vs Lugo. Accelerates w/ one touch passes between lines, attacks last line in depth, drops to receive in RCB-RB interval. Protects back line in double pivot in own half. Not just solid, but versatile.

On a few occasions, looked comfortable covering in wide areas 1v1 in def transition moments. Important role + timing as part of a double pivot in a first team context.

Presses well too (game interpretation). Good timing of tackle to recover also useful, regardless of midfield height. Also good variety in his pass selection, from outside or inside opponent block. Sudden rise, jumping ahead of Unai even to a call-up because of 1st team needs.

442 diamond, in-game adjustment to man-to-man. When looking for illustrative pressing examples for my own teams, have always been far more drawn to Imanol and Real Sociedad than the German school.

@JoaoMiguel063 Yea, the contrast in league structures and opportunities definitely have a role in player development. And yea, he was untested in this game so others stood out more. Good player, will have to have a deeper look in other contexts.

@aldosainati Don’t know about the City side but most of the Sporting u19 have senior experience playing in the 3rd division as well. Biggest talent imo is Henrique Arreiol. Super complete defensive midfielder.

Gulf in coaching+player talent between this Sporting U19 & ManCity U19. Denilson Santos can continue to base his game off Quenda +follow his pathway, Gabriel Silva knit together plays + link advantages multi-positionally across attack, Felicíssimo... talent wherever you look.
