@karagoucher The beauty of Championship racing is it brings multiple types of racers into the equation, are tactics now a thing of the past?

@willempet I think the major free fall of the ZAR occurred between 1980 and 1994 (sanctions), from 67 cents to R3.49 which is 12.5% per annum. Since 1994 the ZAR has depreciated by 6% pa until current

History of the South African Rand: - Introduced by Verwoerd in 1961, $1=R0.71 - The rand was fairly stable until 1980, at that time under Vorster it was $1=R0.67 -After that, heavy sanctions started, making the Rand drop to $1=R1.20 in 1984 under PW Botha, and $1=R2.33 in 1989 under de Klerk -By the Time Mandela became President, the Rand had already dropped to $1=R3.42 -This is where the Rand became very unstable, and dropped exponentially and reached a staggering $1=R11.47 in 2003 -Mbeki started economic reforms in 2003 which strengthen the Rand back to $1=R5.85 in 2005 -With the Zuma Presidency the free fall of the value of the Rand started, dropping the value all the way to $1=R13.73 the day Ramaphosa took office in 2018 -The free fall of the Rand accelerated under Ramaphosa, Regularly dropping below $1=R19 in the past year.

Pathetic, Arsenal. How can you lose at home to a team that has 10 men for that long? So long as Havertz is our main striker, we have zero chance of winning any big trophies. He was abysmal today. If Arteta doesn’t buy big this window, incl a top striker. our season is over.

@Timheming One thing we do know is that the face of T-100 will change very soon, or needs to, to keep up with the changing pace of the sport

Without making a prediction for the Ironman 70.3 worlds, I’ve a sense we’re about to get a reminder of just how good a triathlete France’s Leo Bergere is.

What did we learn today: 1. SA are the best team in the world for a reason. Even not at their best, ridiculous power from 1-8 & 16-22. And 12. And 13. 2. Scotland can handle the power game. Just not at scrum time 3. Sione Tuipolutu is the best 12 in NH

At what point do we start checking these Bok tries instead of blindly awarding them on the spot? We’re happy to go back multiple phases for the opposition to over rule.

@Timheming Fortunately the race was gripping and the broadcast was excellent (as u mentioned), so we weren’t going anywhere

@alecriddle True. I’m sure some smart ad exec has the answer but guess it’s either that they’re just trying to crudely mash it into your brain or they figure you’re only tuning in for a few minutes.

Credit where it’s due, Ironman hugely upped the ante on both its coverage & fairness of the racing yesterday in Hawaii. Some elements, such as commentary, will never be to everyone’s tastes, but overall, for an 8hr+ broadcast, and from the existing benchmark, it was excellent.
