“If you’re just really passionate about something, it doesn’t matter how long you’ve been in the industry or how old you are. Just being able to show your love and being passionate about it really goes a long way,” #NadineLustre muses.

While most influencers don’t really walk the talk, Nadine Lustre demonstrated in recent weeks that awareness isn’t enough to promote health and environmental sustainability through plant-based diets. In order to promote social change, there needs to be effective legislation.
Standing alongside Rep. Leila de Lima, she filed HB 7697 (HALAMONDAY Bill), which seeks to encourage the consumption of vegetables and plant-based meals to improve public health and protect the environment. It seeks to require government offices, public schools, and hospitals to implement plant-based eating, likely on Mondays, thus the name.
Nadine’s success and reputation lie in the shift from talking to building. Early this year, she co-founded Dehusk, a plant-based coconut milk brand that promises to address the biggest barrier to sustainability in the Philippines: Accessibility. For too long, vegan options were locked behind "specialty cafe" prices that a wage earner or a student couldn't afford. The pivot happened when she partnered with Pickup Coffee.
And brands that want to collaborate with her know this too well: they must pass her radical transparency test. We heard that skincare brand Bioten and online beauty retailer Konvy Beauty have had to overhaul their packaging and supply chains to meet her standards for refillable, non-toxic, and ethical production.
And consumers love them. We are seeing a massive shift where Gen Z and Millennials now view "local empowerment" and "low-waste" as higher status symbols than international luxury logos. Because of Nadine, choosing a plant-based, eco-sustainable lifestyle is no longer just healthy—it’s a vote for the planet.
