20 years married. THIS is the flex.
Marry the girl who loves Jesus more than she loves you.
I didn’t grow up with a model for marriage.
My view of love was shaped by a broken home.
So yeah… I got it wrong early on.
If that’s you, you’re not broken. You’re just early.
Get mentors. Get around people who will challenge you, pray for you, and call you out (and up)… not just send you podcast links and Tony Robbins clips.
(love Tony, by the way.)
Here’s what I’ve learned (and still learning) after 20 years of making the wisest decision ever.
✅ Wanting to “be right” in marriage is a great way to lose
✅ Self-awareness will save more arguments than “communication skills.”
✅ Don’t just say “I love you,” demonstrate it
✅ Build a business that fits around your family… not a family that gets whatever scraps are left after business
✅ Don’t fake accountability. Find people who’ll kick your butt with love
✅ Pursue her even when you don’t “feel it. Especially then
Take your daughters on dates.
Speak life into them like the world is trying to take it from them… because it is.
Help them become confident, courageous, and grounded in truth.
Not perfect. Just anchored.
And guys…
Don’t let your eyes wander.
Don’t get distracted by cheap attention.
Focus on your wife.
Honor her when no one’s watching.
God sees that. And He blesses it.
I don’t have a perfect marriage.
But I have a beautiful one.
Because we’ve committed to putting Jesus at the center… especially when it’s hard.
And I’d rather struggle with God’s grace than try to grind it out without Him in our lives.
To my wife, Sarah, my best friend.
We did it. 20 years.
You are the steady, faithful rock in our family.
You love deeply, lead quietly, and carry more than anyone sees.
You’ve brought stability, wisdom, and strength into my life…and I’m better in every way because of you.
I’m not the man I am without your love, your prayers, and your patience.
I love you. And I’m so grateful God gave me you. My heart belongs to you.
20 years.
Not bad for a kid with no blueprint.
Here’s to the next 20… with more love, more laughs, and a lot more memories.
