While getting a price match refund from @HomeDepot found a bug in their billing system where Tax rate charged is incorrect. Double check your Home Depot billing every time.

How about this for the algorithm of life. Load balance "How can I help you today?" question across your family, friends and co-workers each and every day. Optimize for quality of help provided.

@allenholub Going fast and being agile should not be mutually exclusive. Ability to go fast shortens feedback cycles and increases learning.

To me, "agile" means "flexible." An octopus is one of the world's most flexible/agile creatures, but not particularly fast. Productivity, to me, means that you're creating something that your customer finds valuable. Speed isn't a factor in that. Nice to have; inessential.

@chris_hurney @allenholub @tottinge @unclebobmartin @hamrin @WoodyZuill Just trying to get a better understanding is all! The word agile means fast, so I assume productivity would be a natural benefit without "forcing" it using management/control... but only if it's observed properly. Is that accurate?

@JumboVismaRoad @lavuelta Madrid awaits the strongest man, both physically and mentally. Strong enough to overcome anything thrown at him. Do you feel strong @rogla?

@allenholub Agree because I am proven again and again of this. Best case scenario is that it will take longer to get it right as once it is brought up to other’s attention, rework must happen. In reality the work will be considered good enough and will become tech debt soon thereafter.

I'll pbly get in trouble for this, but I just do not believe people can do their best work working alone. We humans have a 200K-year history of not doing that. We are social animals. Coordinating once a day (or coordinating by leaving a trail of notes) is not working together.

@hhariri Having done and seen both, it is very easy to couple implementation in such way that testing becomes impossible unless every single contributor is doing TDD all the time and I have never come across 100% TDD on any team.

"I'm declaring an interface because one day I may have multiple implementations" Sure. So when that day comes, do an Extract Interface refactoring. Most IDEs do it for you in a single click. Until then, drop the interface.

@hhariri Very scenic! Have you given cycling a chance? It’s a multiplier of walking scenery while getting an exercise with an addition of tasty treats at cafe stops.

Decided to go walking to the post office this morning (10Km there and back). Encountering the most wonderful scenery I'd never been through before.

@DivineOps Look at solving challenges through the lens of DevOps PRINCIPLES + Agile PRINCIPLES. Key word in caps. Essence of both can greatly reduce unnecessary complexity with less to maintain and therefore easier to keep the lights on.

So I am burnt out I feel like everything in tech is just going in circles And despite / due to the rate of innovation It is getting more difficult every day for an IT department to even keep the lights on I need something new to believe in, some “new DevOps” idea
