@tomfgoodwin @shaneparrish @rorysutherland We should be asking Rory’s daughter how she did it using TikTok - a perfect social media campaign that has dramatically increased Rory’s fame and reach 😀

I have written to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, urging him to meet with myself and local campaigners to discuss the need for a pharmacy in Thames Ditton.
The Pharmaceutical Services Regulation Committee (PSRC) acknowledged the significant support from residents for a pharmacy in Thames Ditton, yet still chose to refuse the recent application.
This decision does not reflect the needs of our community. My priority is to make timely access to healthcare as straightforward as possible for my constituents.
The absence of local pharmacy provision makes this unnecessarily difficult. I will continue to press for better access to pharmacy services so that my constituents in Esher and Walton can get the care and medicines they need close to home.

5-20 minutes for the update it says - the most delusionally optimistic forecast since Liz Truss (currently 42 minutes since it started). Thanks @Microsoft

@vfsglobalcare please help. You have lost a passport in the UK and just need to be able to talk to someone. Visa was granted, passport sent, DX failed delivery and returned the passport to you. Really need to get passport back. Passport urgently needed for other travel.

@shaneparrish Fogo de Chao in Jardins is good too. The table of salads is a work of art.

@mkraju @lewis_goodall It’s a “tenet” of international law not a “tenant” 😀 - not sure if that’s AI doing a bad transcription or a senator wanting to sound smart…. (and failing)

New — GOP Sen. Roger Wicker, chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, told me this when asked if Vladimir Putin can be trusted in Ukraine talks: “No. Putin is a war criminal who should be in jail for the rest of his life, if not executed.”
Asked him about Trump saying he believes Putin wants peace, Wicker said: “what we can trust the Russians to do, is to do anything to their advantage, to take temporary steps.
“Vladimir Putin has violated every tenant of international law and should be indicted and prosecuted and jailed, possibly executed,” he added.

@Herring1967 Lovely post. Wait until you get to Chatham Dockyard! One for another two day trip.

@davetrott @PolemicTMM FIFO First In First Out and LIFO Last In First Out are both accounting/operational principles for stock management. Imagine a warehouse - do I just send out the first one that came in (usual with perishables) or the one closest the door (usual with things that don’t decay).
English

@PolemicTMM I'd never heard FIFO as First In First Out before.
A billionaire who made his fortune opening insurance companies told me it meant Fit In or Fuck Off, which I understood completely

@Laconic_doc They could apply to study at somewhere like UCT (Cape Town) uct.ac.za/sites/default/… or Australia or Canada/US. Northern Hemisphere timings very tight - but Southern Hemisphere would start in Late Jan early Feb. (My daughter studied at UCT and loved it).
English
@davetrott The best thing about this was that neither of them could drive (for medical reasons). Designed by a non-driver and tested on an elderly non-driver - and still one of the most intuitive interfaces (and used out of the box without instructions). 😀
English
@davetrott The main designer of the TomTom back in 2003 tested everything on his father - and if he couldn’t use it then it wasn’t ready. Had the strangest adoption curve - was used by lots of people who didn’t yet have mobile phones….

#ElmbridgeMuseum launched their #ThamesDitton Foundry exhibition at the Civic Centre yesterday with Jane Ritchie, the granddaughter of the foundry’s former Foreman Chaser. The exhibition marks the foundry's 150th anniversary. It is also available online ow.ly/NTlB50RGOIx

Excellent thread. There have also been protections on postal voting for at least 20 years where the Royal Mail can identify who the names of those receiving mail at an address and cross reference those with the electoral roll.
Zoe Kennedy@zoekennedy
For those who don’t know: Elections in the UK are managed by hundreds of thousands of council staff. Every step is logged and verified. Every vote can be traced if necessary and there’s an incredible amount of oversight. This is why we rarely see voted fraud, and we’ve never had

Totally agree - they should be featuring Green Party councillors and Residents’ Association councillors 16x and 5x more often than anyone from the Reform Party….
Imagine the outrage if they excluded the Conservatives from discussions as the third party of Local Government…
Chris Rennard 🔶💙🇺🇦@LordRennard
It is time for the @BBC to change its stance on promoting Reform and Richard Tice at the expense of @LibDems. Reform won virtually 0 seats, whilst Lib Dems won more seats than the Conservatives. Time we saw less of Reform on the news and Question Time etc. #LocalElection2024

@politic_animal Thanks for another great trip - enabled - and very nearly thwarted 😀 - by the same technology. Amazing how it gives vicarious pleasure to so many (including me!)
English

Thank you all so much for coming along for the ride and for your patience with earlier technical difficulties. Should you ever find yourself at Malin Head (do!) I heartily recommend the lovely people at SolasTonann B&B.
Hope you enjoyed, and see you on the next one! #Ireland24

The journey starts off tamely enough. On board we have a 60yr old sheep farmer who claims not to be able to read or write, and a 3yr old who claims to be able to drive a tractor. I suspect both exaggerate.
We cross Ireland’s second-longest stone bridge into Malin Town. #Ireland24

@politic_animal Hope you are back online soon and are still making progress north. Highlight of many people’s day is following your travels. Curse your recalcitrant iPhone.
English

With apologies for those following closely, but my iPhone has suddenly decided, on 10% charge, that it doesn’t want to take charge from anything… Argh! Don’t worry, will document on another phone (otherwise a dead brick while abroad) and update when I can… #Ireland24

I’m in Baltimore - County Cork, not Maryland - to start another Turtle Travels adventure. This is a lovely village set amongst a stunning and complex sound and archipelago. It’s a jumping off point for ferries to numerous little islands. But it has something else too… #ireland24
