Although in this situation the VAR can only recommend a review if they believe it's a straight red, when reviewing it the ref can come to any final decision he sees fit - he could've even given a free kick the other way and YC'd the opponent for simulation if he wanted to!

@DaleJohnsonBBC Well if you’re right then there will be an apology shortly (there won’t) The reality is that is the kind of thing that should be a penalty every day of the week without question. If a defender can make a save with their hand and not get called on it what are we doing?

Definitely should not have been a VAR penalty to Chelsea at Crystal Palace today for me. Jaydee Canvot did not commit a handball offence as laid out by the Ifab. That the ball was going into the goal is irrelevant.

@Official_STFC "The Club believes the decision falls short of the standard of proof beyond reasonable doubt and was instead based on the balance of probabilities." It's not criminal court. All charges are dealt with on balance of probability. Get a grip.
