No outro post eu falei sobre coesão. Chegou a hora de falar de acoplamento.

I talked about cohesion; now it's time to talk about coupling.

The speed of code production is up. The taste isn't. Cohesion is what the reviewer still has to bring.

DRY was originally about knowledge, not characters. Two pieces of code can look identical and represent completely unrelated facts about the world.
A rule I've used for a decade to filter the "I should DRY this up" instinct.

O sênior dá a crítica.

While prepping my @gopherconeu talk, I was reading Go's CPU detection code and spotted a one-line nesting mistake that has silently disabled GFNI detection on every consumer-grade Intel CPU shipped since 2021 (Alder Lake, Raptor Lake, the N-series mini-PCs, all of it).
The fast path was sitting right there, and Go was reporting false. Wrote up the full story: the line, the hardware, the fix, and what it actually buys users (honest answer: less than the headline suggests, more than you'd think).

New essay! The Floor and the Fractures.
The Senior-to-Principal transition is mostly adulthood applied under pressure, plus specific fractures the industry rarely names.
The closing section uses Spinoza, which I promise is less pretentious in context than it sounds here.
This one is for the patient reader.

People of pi.dev. Do not install.by via any method other than what's shown on the website and in the docs.
E.g. we do not publish to brew and never will. Someone else did. We have zero control over what goes into the brew release.
