@alifewitheczema

Living life with eczema. I’m not a medical professional so any treatments mentioned are ones I’ve used myself. Retweets are not endorsements.

Having had #eczema since birth I can quite confidently say it would have helped me to have someone to talk to. For many years I had real issues with self confidence and being self conscious about my skin. Speak to people about how you feel.

Amongst these top tips, I’m allergic to both fish and avocado which both actually make my #eczema flare. The problem with eczema is what works for one person doesn’t work for another and there are no real miracle cures

One of the worst parts of having #eczema is the stress cycle. Get told that stress can make eczema worse, have a flare for any one of a million reasons, get stressed about the flare, extra stress makes the flare even worse. Just awesome 👍

@MARKHERENOW Hi Mark, yes still on 3 weeks and doing ok. Got a bit more itchy towards the end of the 3 week period when i initially started but that’s largely passed now. If you’re 7 months in i’m guessing it’s working well for you 👍

@alifewitheczema Hi 👋 are you still doing every 3 weeks for the Dupixent? I’m 7 months in with every 2 weeks.

@alifewitheczema Thank you for the response and good wishes. Have you done it for 3 years constantly?

Just back from seeing my dermatologist. I have had a lot of success injecting dupixent/dupilumab ever fortnight so she now wants me to try reducing it to every 3 weeks. Hoping my #eczema doesn’t suddenly flare over the next week!

@savesins There is nothing to be afraid of. I have been on it for 3 years and it has been great for me. Hopefully it works well for you. The worst bit is getting the injection and/or doing it yourself but you soon het over that. Good luck!

@james80_ My understanding is she’s keen to test whether a reduction reduces any of the side effects I experience like pinkness of the face. As i’ve been very stable on it for a few years now she feels it’s worth testing the water. I’ll return to fortnightly if there are issues

Super helpful for #eczema sufferers. One things that massively frustrates me is when any patient comes out a dermatology appointment, or any medical appointment for that matter, not understanding what’s been discussed due to jargon. This just shouldn’t happen!!

@james80_ Great to hear. I’m fortunate that I’ve been given the choice by my dermatology nurses as well. 50:50 also good on a cold day as it gives an extra layer of cosiness 😂

@alifewitheczema In my practice I advocate what ever you tolerate and use appropriately however if you are having a flare or particularly dry and itchy you will need a good greasy ointment, cream and gel for maintenance and lotion if you really are intolerant of the preparation

Applying my usual coating of 50:50 moisturiser this morning and it got me wondering what your preferred #eczema moisturiser is? I prefer the slimy ones to the creamy ones but my clothes have a different opinion!
