@DT_comic Ooh you are on Instagram. Although that’s awful too. I just feel really self conscious on Twitter these days but can’t be bothered to go and find a new place.

@cjforms I regularly joke that marketers appear to think of 50 and over as basically between 50 and death.
English

This is especially galling in #DisabilityPrideMonth
Disabled people span all ages from zero to well over 100 years old.
We deserve to be proud of our disabilities.
And we deserve to be treated as the fully rounded people that we are.
Caroline Jarrett@cjforms
Reading guidance for doing user research with “older adults - 65+” (very slightly older than me). The writer entirely defines us in terms of our age-related disabilities. Absolutely no hint that older people might have different life experiences and interesting perspectives.

@myddelton Dovetail (also, creates video clips from selected text in transcripts).

@hearingnihr @MedicineUoN @NottmBRC @UoNHearSci @NUHAudiology Very shocked and saddened to hear about Dave. He has always been such a wise and gently witty supporter, both in science and at a personal level. Such a loss.
English

It is with great sadness that David Baguley, Professor of Hearing Sciences at @MedicineUoN has passed away. Our sincerest condolences to his family. He was a much-valued friend & colleague, an inspiring lead in #hearing healthcare & research @NottmBRC @UoNHearSci @NUHAudiology

@DrRosieW Very, very occasionally. Bear in mind the lack of access to journals, too.

@ayymanduh All the best Amanda - there's some great life to be discovered out here!

I would just like to go on the record that my grandmother Dorothy Scott would consider Laphroaig being served in a plastic shot glass to be a hate crime. instagram.com/p/CYevIhTMOYT/…

@danachis Hard to talk without specifics! Happy to talk separately. I have seen wellmeaning researchers bounce into subjects which turn out to be 1) upsetting and 2) low value.
English

@danachis :) For me it's about preparation and aftermath. Can't point to specifics (though I might do them) apart from allowing enough time for the depth of conversation; crafting a hopeful conclusion; listening for the UX parts which are often deeply hidden;recognising limits/boundaries
English

@danachis In my experience, researchers can get caught badly off guard by hearing traumatic stories; worst, their response can be highly emotional & inappropriate for the participant. Can be a sign that the research isn't right.2/2
English

@danachis Preparation and advance work with specialists; solid ethical approaches to research; planning debrief, decompression and mood-lifting exercises; being aware of personal triggers and able to spot them 1/2

@GeekUnderARock Yes we are pretty much ok - that said my son has Covid so we've had to re-plan Christmas completely :( Just really hoping this is the last phase of it. All the best to you and yours too.
English

@GeekUnderARock Living through a pandemic all over again at Christmas? (possibly just me x)
English

@rachaelashah Not GDS, but MOJ (other government departments are available), always happy to chat about user research :)
English

@ayymanduh They are beautiful in autumn, golden pinky-purple
