@alisonwaller Thank you! My questions are mainly logistical – what the day-to-day may look like, the route into the role etc – and are for a book that isn't about hospice care but features a character who is a palliative care nurse.

@JanCarson7280 Fair enough - I know the ones you mean! The shortcuts to profundity…
English

@JanCarson7280 Except…if you have ever experienced this is real life it may well have had a profound effect on your understanding of life/death. I feel there might still be space for proper creative reflection on these kinds of moments?

@alisonwaller @NATEfeed Really enjoyed your talk, Alison! Catherine Stimpson's notion of the 'paracanon' is such a powerful & important one as an antidote to the 'literary merit' argument. We used it in our 'Studying Fiction' book and I had a great e mail exchange with Catherine about it a few years ago

Listening to @alisonwaller’s brilliant talk at @NATEfeed’s ITE conference. A wonderful take on why our reading histories matter and how teachers can ‘use books from our past to inspire teaching in the future’. #rereading #paracanon #literatureandemotion
