Which sports do you think will benefit most from the new @rfu tackle laws? Kick it off with rugby League and Basketball. Thoughts ?

@Dougtrotter47 @nick_easter @RFU They make a balls-up of interpreting virtually all the laws don’t they, so you’re right this will probably be no different 😂 Once the new guidance is published we’ll find out more. I think it will be contact below the ball as an easy demarcation that way heads are not in danger

@Dougtrotter47 @nick_easter @RFU The same way we tell now if the contact is at shoulder height or below 🤷‍♂️ it’s pretty easy to see if someone hits above or below the rib cage as the ball is usually being carried around that height

@Dougtrotter47 @nick_easter @RFU And it’s ok the the 5’4 lads to not be able to tackle him ‘high’ at the moment - are they getting concussed having to tackle your son around the mid-torso?

@Scienceofsport Thanks for sharing this Ross. The unsuccessful Championship Cup study immediately comes to mind here. Have other studies been undertaken since to assess the effect of actually changing the laws to lower tackle height?

@allangmunro @DrDavid_Rhodes @TheSSTofficial @BASRaTorg I’ve not read up enough to give the ST educational framework comparison, however I'd say the degree I did 10 years ago had a pretty robust coverage of rehab and exercise. Apologies for the length of this reply but this is something which I feel doesn’t get discussed enough...

@DavidCooper_uk @DrDavid_Rhodes @TheSSTofficial @BASRaTorg I would agree on all those points. Industry certainly doesn’t recognise the skill set enough and is looking towards S&C for rehab 🤦‍♂️. There are isolated examples of great practice in sport but it hasn’t spread enough so far

@allangmunro @DrDavid_Rhodes @TheSSTofficial @BASRaTorg There is definitely a place in professional sport for a rehabilitation/therapy professional who can work within an MDT with an expertise in RTP, prevention of inj, bridging field and gym based rehab and applying S&C principles to injuries…
