Happy birthday to Austin Pendleton, whose life in the theater has traversed decades -- as a charmingly off-center actor (from "Oh, Dad" and "Fiddler" to "The Minutes"), playwright ("Uncle Bob") and director (recently, triumphantly, with Guirgis' "Between Riverside and Crazy").

@fast_women Can we just talk about the fact that all these years later, despite so many advancements in training and equipment, Joan Benoit Samuelson is STILL on this list. That’s phenomenal!

@fast_women You know what’s incredible about this? There were SIXTY TWO women between 2:37:00 and 2:45:00 in this race alone, and of those ELEVEN were within 60 seconds of the OTQ. Not sure how many are American, but damn, there’s serious depth in women’s distance running right now!

@fast_women Remember when people said that we would have a super small field because the OTQ time was tightened up? Look at all of these incredible women rising to the occasion!

I’m such an optimist that every year I think @Starbucks is going to bring back the holiday spice flat white so @oiselle_sally & I can enjoy the best seasonal drink. And every year Starbucks lets me down. Maybe next year…

In today’s world, we can get mega corporations to make change by applying lots of pressure. I’m asking @adidas and more importantly, anyone connected to the company, to make it clear that anti-semitism is not ok and that their silence around @kanyewest’s comments is 👎🏻.

Athletes — The optimal amount of: Happiness is happiness. Fulfillment is feeling fulfilled. Hard word is doing your best. When you eliminate unnecessary controlling people from your life you sleep and recover better, which makes you enjoy the process and perform at your best.

@jmarpdx I guess almost every runner on planet earth is an asshole who doesn’t care about their body/coach/teammates. Which is odd, because a lot of those people run very, very fast.
