As the new school year begins, let’s remember that Maslow before Bloom isn’t just for students—it’s for all of us. When we first meet basic needs for safety, belonging, and well-being (Maslow), then nurture learning and growth (Bloom), honor every unique strength (Gardner), help each person discover meaning and purpose (Jung), and grow emotional intelligence (Goleman), we support the whole child—and the whole community. This work belongs to everyone: teachers, staff, families, and neighbors. Together, we can make school a place where everyone feels seen, valued, and ready to thrive.
