Is high-carb fueling really necessary for prolonged exercise? 🍏🥖🚴🏻 New study on low-carb vs. high-carb diets for endurance performance shows: - equal performance outcomes during time-to-exhaustion testing. - improved performance on both diets with the ingestion of just 10 g of carbs per hour! The nail in the coffin for the obligatory role of muscle glycogen? ⚰️ Let’s break down the study 👇🏼

@Aimeeellen1 That is a fantastic statement. Will certainly help some of the young female athletes I coach. A great message and much needed, even if attitudes are changing it’s important to have role models. Great stuff @Aimeeellen1

@CISN_info My thoughts are that we can cycle certain diets, if that keeps it interesting. Doing this we also find which one may suit us best. However, in reality most people don’t have time or inclination to stick to one ‘diet’ for very long until they may ‘need’ to

This is a really useful study showing the challenges of demonstrating that a condition or syndrome exists. There is a sometimes a fine balance between science and practical experience, both are so valuable in applying the principles of care of an athlete

A really interesting article about sportspeople and fuelling. Particularly that eating more allows you to train harder but stay at the same weight (if weight restriction is a part of the sport) How our female rowers ate more and triumphed newsroom.co.nz/lockerroom/how…

If anyone knows any academy nutritionists who may be interested in taking part then please do ask them to get in touch. Assessing knowledge in this population is not research that has been done often so reaching as many academy footballers as possible would be great 👍⚽️

Writing the introduction to my study on ‘Nutritional knowledge in professional academy football players’. Immersed in the research and now feel pressure to deliver some value on such an important issue in youth sports. Eating has profound effects beyond performance esp for youth
