I tried to do what we call, if I may be so bold, a "conceptual scoop"!! Pls read my story on the most overlooked form of extreme confinement of farm animals—the routine caging of dairy calves in tiny crates less than 1/10 the size of a parking spot. It's not about veal! (🧵)

BREAKING: We’ve just released an interactive map exposing every factory farm and slaughterhouse in the state of California. 👉 At FactoryFarmWatch.org, you can see not only where these facilities are, but how many animals they confine, what brands they work with, the pollution they cause, and more. 📣 And now that we can clearly see where these factories are and how much harm they’re causing, it’s time to get them out of California. Will you join our campaign? Check out the map and sign our open letter at FactoryFarmWatch.org

RELEASED: The five arrested animal rescuers have been released from custody. No charges have been filed at this time but the King’s County Sheriff’s Office has indicated that the rescue is under further investigation. Following their release from custody, they went right back to the authorities to advocate for the goats at Whole Foods’ Vera Goat Dairy. Officers accepted their reports of criminal animal cruelty. We hope that they will investigate and prosecute this factory farm for their crimes against animals. In the meantime, Phoebe and Celia, the two baby goats rescued, are safe and receiving urgent medical care. #RightToRescue

Zoe Rosenberg is a straight-A Berkeley student set to graduate soon. She's also an animal rights activist facing 5½ years in prison for "rescuing" 4 chickens. Her trial could have big ramifications — not only for her movement, but for the meat industry: sfchronicle.com/bayarea/articl…

“Just four months after she graduates on May 17 with a bachelor’s degree in social movement strategy, the straight-A student will stand trial in a Sonoma County courtroom for her June 2023 incursion into Petaluma Poultry, a processing facility owned by agribusiness giant Perdue Farms. If convicted for taking four chickens Perdue valued at around $24, she faces up to 5½ years in prison.” Thank you @sfchronicle for covering this story. BREAKING: Lambs are being torn apart alive by the largest lamb producer in the United States. Our new hidden camera investigation at the Superior Farms slaughterhouse in Denver, Colorado shows lambs are routinely dragged to the kill floor with broken limbs and dismembered while still conscious. These are blatant violations of the Humane Methods of Slaughter Act which prohibits mammals from being shackled, hoisted, thrown, cast, or cut without first being made insensible to pain. Law enforcement agencies rarely hold slaughterhouses accountable. Thankfully, Denver voters have a historic opportunity to stop this criminal abuse themselves. Ballot Measure 309 would ban slaughterhouses in the city, closing Superior Farms for good. Learn more about this breaking story by reading today’s article in The Intercept: theintercept.com/2024/10/09/lam…

With every trial, I lose more faith in our "justice" system. New level absurdity: The supervising investigator presiding over Tracy’s case is the literal BROTHER-IN-LAW of Scott Gregson (the "victim").
Asha Rescue Trial@AshaRescueTrial

Should Tracy even be on trial? That is the question the defense attorneys argued before the judge in their Motions to Dismiss this morning. The court is now on break for lunch, and the judge is considering his ruling.
