OTD in 1989: USS Tennessee (SSBN-734) conducted the first submerged test launch of a Trident II (D5) missile, which failed about 4 seconds into flight. After modifications, Tennessee conducted the first successful submerged test launch on August 2, 1989 & there have been 197 successful Trident II launches since.

Today I made my first contact via linear transponder 🥳
Operating half-duplex on the old #Satellite 🇯🇵 FO-29. Unfortunately I don't yet have enough equipment for full-duplex 😥
It's a shame these satellites pass in South America without activity in the TP.

@alpha_adhito The method itself is simple to understand, but it requires a bit of practice. Yes, fixed transmission frequency (Without a doubt, the simplest way to operate in the field if you don't have full-duplex).

@KH2XX_EOD If you want downloading weather data locally and scheduled it, SatDump is the way to go :)
Oh, btw you can decode GOES-17 from your location btw since you're closer to continental US. AFAIK you can get great hi-res Earth image with that (and also the Sun!), again with SatDump.

Fully agree, weather sats is what makes me into sdr and radio world. It's amazing what this tiny dongle can do.

This image was right before NOAA-18 was decommissioned & bad angle, I wish I still had the good ones, didn't back them up - 2nd is a better example I found from google.

@KH2XX_EOD @pr_teksat On settings? Well, we too experience like this before on IO-86 but it's rare, that's why Look4Sat is used for backup.

@KH2XX_EOD @pr_teksat Hmm, I still have mine. Have you checked ☑ the satellite or refresh the TLE?
I sometimes also use Look4Sat with custom TLE. You can get one from amsat-id.org/tle-io-86/ or I'll just sent you the txt file if you want.
