@MinecraftWhizT @DaltonRMott @chriswithans lol gross revenue means nothing if all of your costs are subsidized by the NBA. Net revenue is what matters. They are subsidized by the NBA. Btw uber didn’t take nearly 30 years to turn a profit.

@als1741 @DaltonRMott @chriswithans WNBA generates hundreds of Millions in revenue Fortune 500 company owners already own WNBA teams… so job accomplished You are showing you don’t understand how shareholder value can be generated… for the longest time Uber didn’t generate any profit and was worth Billions

The league is basically allocating all their national TV money for player salaries and benefits and depending on stadium revenue for everything else. In other words, most teams are going to lose money every time they play.

@MinecraftWhizT @DaltonRMott @chriswithans So zero revenue plus subsidies equals value for the shareholders? That’s a great business model. That’ll a good long term strategy. You should share that with some Fortune 500 companies.

@als1741 @AlexMil92241944 @DaltonRMott It all seems like a house of cards that could collapse at any time, but I could be wrong. I thought that about the MLS for while until proven wrong. But how many more teams can billionaires subsidize?

@AlexMil92241944 @DaltonRMott @chriswithans These evaluations are based on the NBA subsidizing the WBNA through TV deals, arenas, facilities, etc. Without these subsidies the WNBA could not survive and would have essentially a negative evaluation. The WNBA is just a charity for the NBA.

@chriswithans The value to the owners is the value of the team. The revenue at the moment is just a side project. The owners know what teams can eventually be worth so it’s a good deal for them.

@AlexiLalas Why do both versions of the US flag jersey have a giant white space on the back? Couldn’t they have made the fan jersey without the massive eyesore on the back?

@awndrezawndrez @Footy_Headlines Yeah but they can sell the fan jerseys without the white back, especially since they are doing two versions

@QuinneyUte Provide evidence that the majority of bottom 6 players in the lineup (you’re including 3rd line player too, which is wild) don’t make well above a million dollars per year. Again, rookie contract players and fridge NHL players might, but that’s not the majority in the bottom 6.

@QuinneyUte Ummm it’s that’s what you got from me sending the salary FLOOR of an NHL contract, then you had difficulty processing rational arguments. Congrats. There’s a difference between the average a bottom 6 player makes, and the minimum salary player salary allowed under the CBA.

@QuinneyUte It was a bad joke, that made no sense given the salaries of the average bottom 6 forward in the NHL. There has to be some truth to a joke for it to be funny.

@QuinneyUte @seanshapiro You keep making this argument that I don’t understand marginal tax rates. You’re basing that on nothing. Yes, player salaries making over a $1 million will be taxed on the money over the $1 million threshold. Seattle had no NHL history and is no longer a place people want to live

@als1741 @seanshapiro well now you’ve proven that you don’t know how marginal taxation works and you also don’t understand the initial joke. great stuff here. and might want to check on the Avs who also play in a “city run by leftists.”

@QuinneyUte @seanshapiro “Hey siri, why would a player choose to play for a team where no big time free agents want to go, that has no NHL history, in a city run by leftists, takes more of your money, and has no chance of winning a Cup anytime soon?”

@QuinneyUte @seanshapiro Go through any team in the NHL and look at the bottom 6 player contracts. Almost all of them are well over a $1 million per season. I only listed the minimum salary allowed under the CBA. Only layers on rookie deals and veterans on one year deals that are washed are below that.

hey@als1741·
@QuinneyUte @seanshapiro It most likely will. Most bottom 6 players make over $1 million per season. Usually it’s just the players that are constantly healthy scratches and go back and forth between the minors that make below $1 million

@chrisqu10069644 @seanshapiro Wouldn't New York (either team) or LA (or any Canadian team) have to pay a lot more than 10% more than the VGK, Stars, TBL, Panthers and Predators? I'm just asking if this new WA state income tax is all that big of an amount compared to the other higher-income-tax areas

The US hasn't tracked citizen emigration comprehensively since the 1950s. WSJ aggregates official data from 50+ foreign governments—residence permits, home purchases, and 100k+ US full-degree student enrollments abroad (multi-year programs)—as proxies for the 180k+ relocations. Brookings derives the ~150k net loss from similar indirect stats. Not ideal, but the best verified sources available.
