@Camy_Music oh and I just found out about this the other day (I'm also interested in getting a MIJ jazzmaster), but apparently the pickups in MIJ jazzmasters are often more akin to strat pickups than traditional jazzmasters. Not sure if it's all MIJ jazzmasters, but good to know!

@Camy_Music I sent mine via Japan's international mail service EMS. My friend who's fluent in Japanese handled the process though, so your milage may vary. Some stores do offer international shipping though, so if I had to do it again I'd definitely go that route.

@FreeMeNotAudio Both digital and real amps have their pros and cons for sure, and I think where I'll ultimately end up is with some sort of hybrid set up. Maybe a real amp for my staple tone, and then a digital system for everything else.

@alterclad I'm actually moving in an opposite direction with my rig. Slowly getting into neural dsp and going full digital. I love my Carvin Legacy, and tube amps, but they just take up so much space.

@image44_ I think the right approach is to give your weakest skill the most freedom. I could write multiple songs worth of melodies in a day, but the restrictions that places on my word choices makes writing lyrics after 10x harder. So basically start with whichever you’re worse at.

@image44_ As someone who’s far stronger at writing melodies, lyrics first is the way to go. Far more freedom in word choice, and it results in much more natural sounding melodies. Never have issues making them catchy either. I basically just free write and then adjust at the melody stage.
