@alz_zyd_ I totally buy this for restaurants/NFTs but i'm still struggling to see this for the swift/mccartney/springsteen of the world. The value of those shows (I'd guess) is more from the music and so record sales than social effects. Or maybe people really don't care about the music

perennial question which also applies to concert tickets: why don't they raise prices?

Unbelievably grim article about NYC restaurant reservation scalpers - people are paying a thousand bucks to buy a Carbone reservation on the secondary market. newyorker.com/news/our-local…

@MichelaTincani Not an "app" per se, but in 2021 I developed a chatbot that talked via WhatsApp. Hired a team that included two devs (front & back), plus QA. It cost me almost 10k for the equivalent of five combined weeks of work. So on average I paid ~50 USD per hour. These were Chilean devs.

#econtwitter Help!
How much do you think it costs to hire a software engineer to develop an app? Ballpark.

@Cucho Yup. I love books and the "meta" surrounding them. Sure, if it's a long, dry list of names I'll skip it. However, more often than not acknowledgements tell a short story of the people involved in the creation of the book that I'm about to read, and I enjoy that.

@alvcarril Even when there is no chance you would know someone?

@ClubLeftTennis @usopen and don't get me started on ticket resells... a ground pass for tomorrow is at 280 rn, insane
English

@usopen You guys shot yourself in the foot by not making it live.
A random draw is not necessarily balanced, but now every dimwit here is going cry "rigged"—people don't understand random unless they see it.
Also, @TennisPodcast said it best: why not make a spectacle out of it?

@jmgmoron La gente busca explicaciones y conspiraciones para todo. "Aleatorio" no implica "parejo".

@rolandgarros @NicoJarry Jarry had an amazing run and achieved a career high ranking of 28. Didn't play his best tennis today against Ruud, but I feel it's only going to be upwards and onwards for Nico now!
English

@TennisPodcast "Don't underestimate form": Jarry just won Geneva with b2b wins over Dimitrov, Zverev and Ruud, and he's had a good first half of the year on clay. Now that bottom half is looking wide open, and QF wouldn't surprise me with the level his displaying now.

@seema_econ - easier to do simultaneous editing
- faster to compile a single section than entire paper
- replacing terms is easy with a text editor that can search/replace across project files; same for moving text
- comparing lang is always necessary, separate files or not
- better for git
English

@mariaelenaguer gotta love that you listed it first of a long list
