@SydJColson 😂😂 I’d be coming at Dantas like “how’d you know I would miss that, dude? Kinda rude.”

Going to replace IM Board Exam qBanks with listening to radio commercials. “For people with RA and TNF inhibitors did not work” = first and second line treatment options! “Your doctor should check for TB prior to starting” Wish me luck.

Googled “small Indiana bird” and found a VERY long list that was disappointingly not in size-order, yet nonetheless was able to identify the tufted titmouse in question. Backyard birdwatching is going exceedingly well.

@medmalreviewer @DoctorJinnette Yes, but the education focus should be on “possible exposure” rather than symptoms. The importance is early intervention. The red flag here wasn’t the classic symptoms of rabies, it was the unusually aggressive animal.

@DoctorJinnette Other challenging thing is that it seems like most people totally forgot about the exposure since it happened 1-2 months prior to systemic symptoms appearing. Hard to connecting “my arm is itching and tingling” to the bat that landed on you back in May.

I’ve gotten to the point that I assume every post on Reddit is just a creative writing exercise. I will say though that casually polling your non-medical friends, you’d be shocked as to how many people wouldn’t recognize a possible rabies exposure. There should be more awareness
medmalreviewer@medmalreviewer

Hands down, this is absolutely the wildest post I’ve ever seen on Reddit. Really, really, really hoping this person does not have rabies.

Obtaining a medical license has reminded me how completely predatory the process of becoming a physician is. A few hundred for this license, a few more for that one. Thousands of dollars to take required tests. Ok, now a little more to send the score report. This is ridiculous.

I am so grateful for the people I’ve gotten the opportunity to take care of that it made me want to do this. But the burnout among my colleagues? The ones who LOVE this job but can’t do it full time? That should scare us. “Unsustainable” That’s what they say.

The single, unanimous piece of advice I have received from other physicians after saying that I’m going into primary care is “don’t work full time- it’s completely unsustainable.” That should be a 🚩 about the state of our healthcare system. And yet I am still so excited.

Placed an IJ CVC in virtual reality today courtesy of @VantariVr and @katblatt @HopkinsNCCU. The fidelity was incredible. For example, I realistically pulled the guide wire back until it came out of the brown port and then grabbed the exposed wire and advanced the catheter. #VR

@MPAcadHosp @olsonplanner Dr. Peterson was our Med-Peds Faculty of the Year because she absolutely embodies this. She means so much to our residents- I’m happy to hear she finds meaning in it, too. 😊

@olsonplanner I love the patients and families ❤️ I also really love working with residents and med students, watching them gain confidence as I give them graded autonomy over medical decisions. It’s a wonderful brother & sister-hood when you get to foster growth in other docs!

I don’t understand how people can blatantly sacrifice the health of others to push their own agendas and act as though they have the moral high ground. These are not issues of hypothetical morality. These are issues of literal mortality. And our gvt is voting on the wrong side.

We have seen this before in Indiana. Our government can continues to sacrifice public health to push a moral agenda. - Refusing to allow needle exchange/risk reduction programs for IV drug use - Banning access to abortion care

Banning access to healthcare means people will find less-safe or complexly unsafe alternatives. It does NOT mean people will simply decide they don’t need that care.

@cocuzzo_kaitlyn @RileyKids Welcome!! I’m finishing up my Med-Peds residency here and sticking around in primary care. I think Indy is a very easy city to navigate and adjust to. And people are of course Midwest Friendly so you’ll have plenty of help if you need it!

Looking to chat with someone familiar with @RileyKids and #Indianapolis I’m delighted to have matched there in one of the top programs in the country. I’m excited to start. Im a bit nervous about moving there alone since I’ve never even visited. Would love help with logistics!

@letitBAlex Agree to disagree. Eating chili without noodles feels like eating a bowl of plain spaghetti sauce with beans mixed in. I do recognize that this is an unpopular/ indefensible stance to take.

I am sorry to break the news to all these folks in Indiana, but chili does not and should not have noodles. That’s called goulash.

I cancelled all my cards (shoutout to @Chase for being by far the most helpful and most efficient) but MORE IMPORTANTLY my coffee shop credited me for the stamps I lost on my new stamp card. 🥰 Somehow this validates my faith in human kindness.

My wallet was stolen and an actual thought I had was “well maybe they’ll mail me back my license & insurance card since they have no use for it.” 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’d blame it on the post-nightshift brain, but I think I just REALLY love hoping for the best despite all contrary evidence.

I still get nervous calling attendings overnight to staff new admits. The 5-minute monologue to an attending I just woke up from sleep is so intimidating, no matter how kind and willing to teach I know the staff to be.
