Am I the only one who thinks spending £120M on Elliot Anderson doesn’t make as much sense when you could probably get Mateus Fernandes for half of that? Elliot Anderson has been exceptional this season? No doubt. One of the best in the league (recency bias). He has a very long career ahead and looks like he is going to be a top player if he continues. Meanwhile, I personally think Mateus Fernandes could also be and will be a top player. I really do think both of them have the SAME qualities. It’s just that Elliot Anderson has unlocked a few things to his game this season. Likewise, Mateus Fernandes also has the same attributes and all the potential to be the SAME type of player as Elliot Anderson. He was the shining star in a struggling, relegated West Ham team. Therefore, I firmly believe that instead of spending £120m on Elliot Anderson, spending half of it on Mateus Fernandes would be very smart, effective, and efficient. Also, the English tax is true. Correct me if I am wrong.
