Narges Mohammadi | نرگس محمدی
URGENT UPDATE : Narges Mohammadi Undergoes Angiography; Severe Deterioration of Heart Condition and Nervous System Due to Continuous Tension over the Last 5 Months Narges Mohammadi was transferred to the operating room for an angiography procedure to accurately evaluate her cardiovascular status after being hospitalized for ten days in a hospital Zanjan and subsequently 3 days in a hospital in Tehran. The findings from this angiographic evaluation, compared to the results of the last examination in 2024 indicate significant deterioration and progression of the vascular disease. Written reports and clinical observations by Mohammadi's medical team confirm that two of her arteries—one main and one branch—suffer from blockage. Her medical team announced today that a part of the central nervous system in the brain responsible for autonomic control and precise regulation of blood pressure has suffered functional impairment. The etiology of this condition is directly linked to severe mental pressure, chronic anxiety, and environmental stress, and it has now transformed from a nervous reaction into a clinical disease. Although this condition is described as traumatic, doctors believe that with a at least 8-month treatment course and the use of right medications, the nervous system function will be reversible. Currently, Mohammadi is hospitalized in the Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) for continued treatment and constant monitoring, and it has been strictly emphasized that any stressor, anxiety, or anger can disrupt her recovery and worsen the condition. Following global campaigning, Iranian authorities suspended implementation of Narges Mohammadi’s unjust decades-long prison sentence for her human rights activities for one month on medical grounds. She has been released her on bail but is now in intensive care in a Tehran hospital, following the abuses she suffered. Authorities recklessly put Narges Mohammadi's life at risk by subjecting her to torture or other ill-treatment by deliberately denying her timely & adequate specialized healthcare. @amnesty reiterates its call for Narges Mohammadi’s unconditional release.

Observing animals “takes you out of the human condition,” David Attenborough told me in 2016, recalling a time when he glimpsed a lagoon with nature undisturbed, “a moment of revelation, of a recognition that there’s something beyond us.” He turns 100 years old today.
