Those denying Azhdaha's position as Geo Sovereign seem to be missing out on etymology, vishap hierarchies, and his age. Just as bathysmal vishaps began surfacing in Fontaine corresponding to Neuvillette's presence, geovishaps fled beneath Liyue corresponding to Azhdaha's defeat.

And to be clear, the cutscene in Zhongli's SQ2 is dual-narrated: - Iron Tongue Tian tells the legend (confirmed to be fabricated in 6.5) of Zhongli carving Retuo from stone. - Zhongli tells the true history of finding Retuo beneath ground, and giving him eyes to see.
