Russia must clearly see and truly feel that Ukraine will be in Europe – and that this cannot be stopped. That is why we are carrying out internal reforms and working externally to secure a clear date for Ukraine’s EU membership. If there is a clear date, it will mean that Russia will not be able to block our accession in any way. You see how different things get blocked, and how difficult it is for a united Europe to implement even decisions that have already been made. The Russians are not preparing for peace. We must ensure complete protection – and that is exactly what we are doing. Meanwhile, we are not postponing negotiations; no one is disappointed in diplomacy. This is not a matter of emotions, as some might say. It is a matter of what partners are ready for. Russia operates in a very simple way: if they are afraid, they’re willing to toe the line. If pressure on Russia is weakened, Russia thinks it has struck gold and can continue the war. That is why pressure on the aggressor is the key to peace, real diplomacy, and real agreements. Today, I gave new instructions to Rustem Umerov. He is in constant communication with the American side, 24/7. This week we will also work with our partners in Europe so that Ukraine has greater capabilities to defend itself, and our partners are more willing to support us. Countries in the Middle East and U.S. bases in the region need to be better protected. That is why they require drone interceptors. It's our new technological know-how. The war in the Middle East is not a land war, it’s aerial warfare. Hence, they need a lot of air defense systems. The United States, of course, uses its air force, but to close the sky, we provided what we had. I am talking about significant expertise. They have many other powerful things in their arsenal, but not this. And Middle Eastern countries have asked us specifically for this. From an interview with CNN (3/3)

Its been over 40 years since I last saw this movie. I loved it then as I do now. The scene of the encounter between Marcelino and the Christ of the attic is the emotional climax of the movie Marcelino Pan y Vino and represents the miracle born from the innocence of a child who, upon seeing a statue of the crucified Jesus, genuinely believes that the man is hungry and cold. Moved by compassion upon seeing the wounds and blood on the face of the image, Marcelino decides to share his food. Tenderness, sensitivity, innocence, and faith.

On behalf of the Christians of the #MiddleEast, and of all women and men of good will, I appeal to those responsible for this conflict: cease fire! May paths of dialogue be reopened! Violence can never lead to the justice, stability and peace for which the peoples are waiting.

Over the past week alone, the Russians struck Ukraine with 1,770 attack drones, more than 1,530 guided aerial bombs, and 86 missiles, including more than 20 ballistic ones. Each of these missiles contains at least 60 foreign components supplied to Russia in circumvention of sanctions. The schemes used for such supplies are known, and they must be shut down. If the world does not have enough air defense capabilities to close the sky against ballistic missiles in Europe and the Middle East simultaneously, we must deprive the Russians of the ability to assemble missiles at their factories. I am grateful to everyone who continues to work on sanctions to protect lives.

Efforts to deal with the aftermath of the massive Russian attack are currently underway in the Kyiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Dnipro, and Mykolaiv regions. All necessary services are involved. The main target for the Russians was the energy infrastructure of the Kyiv region, but unfortunately, there were also direct hits on and damage to ordinary residential buildings, schools, and civilian businesses. As of now, four people have been reported killed. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Many people have been injured, and some are still seeking medical assistance. Over the course of the night, the Russians launched around 430 drones of various types and a significant number of missiles. There were 13 ballistic missiles alone, and the total number of missiles in this attack was 68. According to preliminary data, 58 of them were intercepted by our air defense system. And every such night of Russian strikes is a reminder to all our partners that air defenses and the missiles for them are effectively a daily necessity. Every agreement on missile supplies cannot wait – everything must be implemented as quickly as possible. Our agreements to increase the production of air defense missiles are a critical direction, and this direction requires one hundred percent attention. Russia will try to exploit the war in the Middle East to cause even greater destruction here in Europe, in Ukraine. This is why we must be fully aware of the real level of the threat and prepare accordingly, namely: in Europe, we need to develop the production of air defense missiles – especially those capable of countering ballistic threats – as well as all other systems necessary to truly protect lives, regardless of what may be happening in any other part of the world. Europe is able to ensure this level of reliable protection. Thank you to everyone who is helping!
