AI Done Now is such a vibe – you send a task to the AI, forget about it, and just get pinged when it’s done. No more staring at spinning wheels or babysitting “thinking…” responses while your focus dies. producthunt.com/posts/ai-done-… #upvote #ai

He was an art teacher with no coding background. Got insulted when he asked a question in training. Today, he leads AI initiatives at a global tech company. Welcome to Cactro’s #SelfMade series. Vilva (@vilvaathibanpb) grew up in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. After university, with a backlog in his degree and no CS background, his job options were limited. So he started working as an art teacher for kids until he got into IGate (an IT giant). During his training at IGate, he felt out of place. He had no interest in tech and no motivation. But his story was about to change. One day, when he asked a question to the “topper” of the batch, he was humiliated in front of everyone. He told me: “That insult triggered me. I rolled up my sleeves, worked through the assignment, and was the only one to finish it by evening. That day, I realised I was actually good at this.” He went from the least motivated to the topper across all IGate training batches that year, winning an award. But he knew he was meant for more. While others played games in the recreation room, Vilva spent his time learning new tech. He started with game dev, Android dev, and AngularJS through Udacity, freeCodeCamp, and YouTube. Eventually, he landed a project, but the work felt menial. So, he quit with only 6 months of runway. He was afraid, but he was willing to bet on himself (for once). He went all-in. From computer fundamentals to browser internals, from HTML/CSS under the hood to mastering JavaScript and AngularJS. Here comes the part that gave me goosebumps. Viva gave 25+ interviews and got rejected by all, but despite it all he continued. He built side projects, hosted events… and then he gave 4 interviews and landed 4 offers. Today, Vilva is leading AI initiatives at Omio. He’s a full-stack engineer, international tech speaker (50+ events, 7 countries), open-source contributor (OSS libraries with ~5,000 weekly downloads), and an avid traveller (25+ countries). His proudest achievement so far? He tells me, “Donating 25+ lakh INR to charity from my work and side hustles.” I love his advice for everyone in tech: “Control FOMO. Go deep into the tools you use. Master the basics and everything else becomes easier.” From being an art teacher with no CS degree to shaping AI products used worldwide, Vilva’s story proves: You can start anywhere and still make it everywhere. 👏👏👏

No big plans for New Year? Or will you be back in Bangalore before Jan 2nd? We've got you covered. @OmioGlobal is coming to Namma Bengaluru and is kicking off its entry with a cool tech meetup. There is an interesting line of talks from renowned experts from the industry. As a cherry on top, we have our CEO Naren Shaam participating in a Panel discussion on the topic "Creating Impact through AI Application". He heads AI initiatives at Omio personally and I am lucky enough to listen to his thoughts and perspectives. I can assure you, you don't want to miss this event. It is an invite-only, so destroy that register button. By the way, we are hiring. If you manage to get to the event, reach out to Piyush Srivastava. He is such a nice person to talk with even if you aren't looking out for a change currently. Registration link: lu.ma/ealzds8h

@ameerthehacker Are you referring to interviews for an open role in your company? If so, I assume companies invest significantly in the interview process. Wouldn’t it be more efficient to consider purchasing an existing tool?

@slvrbckt The binary size of deno compile is in 100mbs as it packs v8 with the binary and it will not be as fast as native binary as your code is interpreted on the fly. The above compiled language will be fast and also smaller in binary size, above example is 11kb binary size

For past 6mo I have been working on an interesting side project "JavaScript like compiled language" 🚀 1. It will be statically typed 2. Very similar syntax to JavaScript and TypeScript 3. Has a built-in event loop 4. Garbage collected like golang Lot more work to be done!
