It's been our darkest era of test cricket, never seen our team so helpless in a home series. It's a high time for selection to based on Domestic performance and not IPL

I know this feels counterintuitive given bad roads, crazy traffic, crowded trains and long working hours. But at the risk of being hated for this opinion - let me give it a shot. I was in Tokyo earlier this year - it has every luxury imaginable of a first world country - yet you don't see enough happy faces in metros or on the streets. In fact everyone is almost always stressed out. Trains are on time, food is cheap, countless parks, many forms of entertainment - but people are just working like machines, they haven't seen salary growth in decades, many are so lonely they haven't had human interaction in months and years! The cost of that 'perfect society' has been people just slogging it out without any hope or ambition. Contrast it to India - even if you go through a chawl, you feel find kids running around and playing, or aunties hanging out and having a laugh about something. Or senior citizen mandali chit chatting. People don't tie their happiness to purely material well being. It is something foreigners have always noticed about India. That even people who don't have much, find joy and happiness in their simple lives. Many of us may not be able to understand it because for most of us - this is the only way we have always lived. The Dalai Lama was once asked - what is the most unique thing about India? He answered that labourers who construct buildings and live in slums nearby never consider robbing or attacking the rich people who will occupy those homes. That they are happy in their means, and believe that if they provide well for their children, they will have a better life than them. And that all Indians feel that upward mobility is possible and achievable. Happiness is indeed a state of mind.

Poor soul has clearly never had a good one. A truly great idli is a cloud, a whisper, a perfect dream of the perfectibility of human civilisation. It's a sublime creation, a delicate, weightless morsel of rice and lentil, steamed to an ethereal fluffiness that melts on the tongue. With the right accompaniments, it is the culinary equivalent of a Beethoven symphony, a Tagore sangeet, a Husain painting, a Tendulkar century. To call such a thing "regret" is to have no soul, no palate, no appreciation for the finest achievements of South Indian culture. I can only feel pity for @Molutty_writes and @SassyDopamine !

@SassyDopamine Dosa? No words, just respect. 🙏 It's idli that tastes like steamed regret 😭
