@the_corvidae I know you massively dislike and distrust therapists, as is your right given your experiences with them. Not trying to dispute that many of them are assholes and the profession is flawed. Just don't want to mischaracterize this person and their positions.
English

@the_corvidae "Aggressive aphobe" isn't accurate here. It's coming from a place of concern that asexual people in sexual relationships are necessarily being coerced into them and traumatized. I can't consider that "aggressive" aphobia when there are really people calling for us to be raped.
English

Was just talking about how therapy serves the oppressive function of homogenizing emotions and behaviors. Asexuality is, still, as of right now, in the DSM—therapists are expected to “treat” patients by coercing sexuality. (This is also, obviously, inseparable from rape culture.)

Never told this story, but thinking about the time I was 14 and told my therapist about a boy who was pursuing me sexually and making me very uncomfortable. She told me to "explore" that relationship because "It's time you start acting and feeling like a real teenager"
English

@midwestern_ope If you're out there, Tyler, you're the reason I can't look at this stuff without barfing 30 years later.
English

@The_Ace_Couple Fourteen. -Fourteen?- There are plenty of people who aren't ace who were still definitely not comfortable with sex at fourteen. Holy shit.
English

@fatnudes This looks great until you have to change the sheets.
English

@the_corvidae A therapist I otherwise like and respect takes the position that sex without attraction always yields trauma. I'm in my 30s and have been out as ace since 19. I think I or my own therapists would have noticed that by now if it were the case for me. 3/3
English

@the_corvidae There -has- to be a fundamental lived experience difference between people who have known they were ace and lived as ace since puberty and people who are traumatized by years of not knowing about asexuality and seeing themselves as broken and having coerced sex. 2/

@RamoneAngellot1 @GaylaKilts @RpsAgainstTrump Approximately zero Democrats believe an election was rigged when we lose. We can point at social problems, gerrymandering, and disenfranchisement as factors, but we're perfectly aware we live in right-wing hellholes where our fellow citizens voted fairly for the winner.
English

@RpsAgainstTrump AP called the election for her before any districts had tallied. She ran as a Republican in Arkansas and was guaranteed a win. She knew this and did zero campaigning. And now we're stuck with her.

@InsomniacDoggo @KandyElmo Gah. Hit enter by accident. But ENM also includes swinging and sexual kinks that involve bringing in more partners and some other stuff. Not all non-monogamous behavior is about maintaining multiple loving relationships.
English

@InsomniacDoggo @KandyElmo ENM and polyamory aren't exactly the same thing, though.

@evolved_Terito @HolderOfEnd @PandasAndVidya I think WinRAR might actually be most famous for being the program that tells you it isn't free and you should buy it every time you launch it after the trial is over... but it keeps working anyway.
English

@HolderOfEnd @PandasAndVidya I'm gonna be real with you I don't even remember what winrar is, is it that application you use for ""completely"" legal playing of games or is it something different?
English

@ThatEricAlper "Albuquerque" by Weird Al. I'm gonna die anyway, so might as well die a legend.
English

@mariofotos @kraywhiseheart IIRC, a lot of the "evidence" in Zeitgeist for Jesus as a sun god relies specifically on "sun" and "son" being homophones... which doesn't work in languages other than English. Definitely not in Latin, Greek, or Hebrew, which are the relevant languages when discussing the Bible.
English

@kraywhiseheart The fish is actually a pagan symbol, Pices. Watch zeitgeistmovie.com the one with Earth in bars. First 35 minutes explains religion. Christian religion is stolen from pagan worship of the 'sun' changed to the 'son'.
English

No, the fish is a Christian symbol. I can’t see any Jewish person falling for this.
aliza🪬עליזה@aliza_mp3
in case anyone was confused, this is *not* a Jewish symbol.
