Limiting explosive pass plays gets talked about a lot as a reason for increasing two-high rates (and rightfully so), but the quieter part of this scheme change has been the development of the safety position.
Big, fast, physical players entering the league more than ever. Capable of covering the deep half, but also getting into the run fit.

Blows my mind sometimes to think about how the Lakers once had Ivica Zubac, Josh Hart, and Alex Caruso. Hart was at least in the AD trade, but they let Caruso walk and flipped Zubac for Mike Muscala.
The role players they needed for years hiding in plain sight!

I question whether the Steelers backfield will have the same target share now that Pittsburgh has added Michael Pittman and Germie Bernard.
Both backs are likely fades for me, with a slight lean towards Warren if picking one.

I’m sure everyone’s experience with this is different, but I tend to think the opposite.
My first year as a DC, I followed this mantra. Keep them fresh, we can teach technique without going to the ground etc etc.
Then the lights came on and we couldnt tackle! Year 2 we tackled every Tuesday and did much better with it.
If its good enough for Dan Lanning and Kirby Smart, its good enough for me.
If you cant bark as a puppy, you wont bark as a dog!

You don’t need to tackle during the regular season to be good at tackling! Stay off the ground! Teach your kids how to practice! 🤷♂️

Isn't it funny Presti didn't want to pay a Dort extension and salary dumped him despite being a homegrown piece who played an important role in their title Not a peep about how OKC backstabs players or that Presti is heartless etc. Instead, praise The Celtics essentially make a similar decsion for a lot of the same reasons, and look at the discourse 🤣
