@jessicaelgot ... electoralcommission.org.uk/research-repor…
Turnout though:
lginform.local.gov.uk/reports/lgasta…
31% turnout for England.
So of franchised population nearly 31% managed to vote.
8% didn't try because of ID requirement.
No 10 "almost everyone" is hard to see as true. Tell them please.

@jessicaelgot
Today's Guardian: No 10 spokesman said “Experience from the last local elections was that 99.75% of people were able to cast their vote successfully.”
This is of course entirely untrue. Perhaps not a flat out lie.
4% of people who didn't vote said it was this...

@matthew_weaver The Hester/TPP/Systm 1 affair is an example of a hazard with closed source software in healthcare.
If you require all the software to be Open Source then if a company maintaining some or all of it goes unsatisfactory you can replace them.

When I was growing up we had no money to buy books. All I had was my local library. I must have spent hundreds of hours in it. But for that library I might never have become a lawyer. 800 have closed under Conservative Governments. It’s almost like they don’t want us to read

Closure of 800 libraries Tories - the kind of people who don't just want more for themselves, they actively want less for everyone else ..... 😡

@Otto_English I suspect following money and encouragement back would lead to an assortment of our enemies.

2mins of Hashi Mohamed absolutely smashing the Conservatives Rwanda policy to bits.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 ‘Our learned judges said the Home Office hadn’t even assessed that policy before adopting it It’s unviable, it’s expensive & the only people it’s going to work for is the Rwandans’ #BBCQT

@Ross6040 @vivamjm You use that word, but I think it foes not mean what you think.
If it did, it would be true...

@SimonFoxWriter "Not wonderful" will be a great improvement on the current gov.
Actually, "riotous clown-fest" would be a distinct improvement on the current gov.
"Writer": No, can't call any of your material to mind.
English

I do actually feel a little bit sorry for all those younger people who are eagerly looking forward to the incoming #Labour government. They think it's going to be SO wonderful! To put it very mildly, they're going to be disappointed. What a riotous clownfest it will be! 😆😅😂🤣

@HNTurtledove I suppose that might reasonably call forth a response, not in entire agreement, from the Catholic hierarchy.

An ex-chief medical officer for England now acknowledges damage done to children by lockdown.
I worry that WFH for the young is like self-imposed lockdown and could have similar long-term effects.

@AndrewSparrow I'm disappointed that the consultants have not declared that they will not provide services to Tory MPs as private patients.
Those MPs have decided what level of service is sufficient for us, and therefore the NHS is entirely appropriate for them, and sufficient.
English

@AndrewSparrow ... or indeed, all the sub-prime-ministerial MPs.
