Children can’t heal on a waiting list. This Children’s Mental Health Week, we’re highlighting the power of early, trauma-informed therapy support. At The Miracle Foundation SCIO, we provide counselling and creative therapies for children and young people aged 4–19 across Lanarkshire supporting those affected by trauma, loss, domestic abuse, care experience and anxiety. So far in the last 2 years 957 children and young people have been supported with Trauma Therapy. Most showed improved emotional wellbeing, confidence and school engagement and many didn’t need onward mental health referral. That’s Impact !! Children’s mental health matters now, not later. We all know healing happens in relationships and therapy not on waiting lists.

Children’s Mental Health Week (9–15 Feb 2026) is a time to raise awareness, spark conversations and shine a light on young people’s wellbeing. This year’s theme, “This Is My Place”, is about belonging feeling safe, valued and included at home, in school and in our communities. When children feel they belong, their confidence and mental health grow. At The Miracle Foundation, we support the systems and people around every child, helping create spaces where young people can say: This is my place. Together, let’s build environments where every child feels seen, supported and empowered. 💚

At The Miracle Foundation SCIO our trauma-informed work isn’t just effective it’s equitable. 📈 From January 2024 to December 2025, 40.44% of the children and young people we supported came from Scotland’s most deprived areas (SIMD Quintile 1) Quintile 1 signifies the highest levels of multiple deprivation in a location. That figure reflects more than numbers it shows that we are: ✅ Reaching the most vulnerable ✅ Embedding accessibility into our model ✅ Delivering impact where it’s most urgently needed When support is equitable, outcomes are transformational. #TraumaInformedCare #EquityInPractice #ChildMentalHealth #ThePromise #GIRFEC #SocialImpact #ThirdSectorLeadership #TheMiracleFoundation

Partnership working in trauma support isn’t a “nice extra” it’s the whole point. Children don’t heal through services working in silos. They heal through safe, joined up relationships around them. As Bessel van der Kolk puts it: “Being able to feel safe with other people is probably the single most important aspect of mental health.” So today, a genuine thank you from The Miracle Foundation SCIO to our partners across Lanarkshire schools, hubs, health, social work and the third sector for choosing collaboration, consistency, and compassion. This is how we build the village around a child. 💚 #TraumaInformed #PartnershipWorking #EarlyIntervention #ChildrensMentalHealth #KeepThePromise #Lanarkshire

As we step into 2026, I’m thinking about the children and young people who have been carrying far too much for far too long and the quiet power of early, trauma informed support. At The Miracle Foundation SCIO we provide counselling and creative therapies for children and young people across Lanarkshire, and we see every day what becomes possible when a young person is met with safety, consistency and care. To our partners in schools, health, social work and the third sector thank you for the trust and collaboration and to every supporter and funder your belief in this work helps children access support before they reach crisis. Here’s to 2026 a year of deeper partnership, stronger prevention, and more moments of healing for children and families. Wishing you a peaceful New Year. 💛

As we approach the end of the year, I would like to take a moment, on behalf of The Miracle Foundation SCIO to thank our colleagues and partners across education, health, social work and the third sector. Supporting children and young people who have experienced trauma, loss and adversity is complex work and it cannot be done in isolation. We are deeply appreciative of the trust you place in our team, the collaborative relationships we have built, and the shared commitment we hold to safeguarding and early intervention. Throughout the year your professionalism, openness to partnership and dedication to the wellbeing of children and families have been evident. Working alongside colleagues who share these values strengthens the support we are able to provide and ensures that children and young people receive care that is compassionate, coordinated and trauma informed. As we enter the Christmas period we recognise the continued pressures faced across services. We hope this time offers a brief opportunity for rest, reflection and connection with those who matter most. Thank you for your collaboration, your integrity and your ongoing commitment to children and young people. We look forward to continuing our work together in the year ahead. With warm wishes for a peaceful Christmas and a positive New Year 🎄🤶

👏🎉We are absolutely delighted to be a Delivery Partner within South Lanarkshire’s Family Support Hubs, supporting families through dyadic family therapy and even more delighted to see the Hubs receive this well-deserved national recognition. South Lanarkshire’s Family Support Hubs have won a COSLA Excellence Award 2025 in the Tackling Inequalities and Improving Health category. This is a prestigious acknowledgement of the impact they are having on the lives of children, young people and families. This award reflects what we see every day in practice, a model that is relational, preventative and rooted in trust. The Hubs create space for families to access the right support at the right time, before challenges escalate and that matters. Through our Dyadic Family Therapy delivery, we have witnessed the power of working alongside parents and children together strengthening relationships, improving regulation, and supporting recovery from trauma in a way that is compassionate and sustainable. A huge congratulations to everyone involved across South Lanarkshire Council, partners and frontline teams. This is a shared achievement and a powerful example of what can happen when systems genuinely align around early intervention and reducing inequality. We’re proud to be part of this work and proud to stand alongside partners who are keeping families at the centre of change. #COSLAExcellenceAwards #FamilySupportHubs #EarlyIntervention #TacklingInequalities #TraumaInformed #PartnershipWorking #K

Absolutely blown away by the generosity of the @CumbernauldAcad students who raised vital funds for The Miracle Foundation at their school fête. Your commitment, drive, and sheer community spirit hit us right in the feels. We talk a lot in this sector about impact, leadership, and values-led practice. But honestly? This is what it looks like in real life. Young people stepping up, owning the brief, and changing the trajectory for families across our communities. Well done to every single one of you. We couldn’t do what we do without young people like you backing us, believing in us, and choosing to be part of something bigger. Thank you for showing up, showing heart, and showing what the next generation of changemakers looks like. #community #youngpeople

‼️We need more to do more. We cannot keep being asked to do more with less.‼️ When we talk about trauma, we’re not talking about a “nice to have.” We’re talking about children and young people carrying experiences that shape their brains, their bodies, their relationships, and their futures. Trauma doesn’t wait for budgets to recover or systems to catch up. It shows up now in classrooms, in homes, in behaviours that are really distress in disguise. That’s exactly why our “How Do We Build Trauma Informed Communities Conference hit the nail on the head on Tuesday. We didn’t tiptoe around the issue or reduce trauma to a buzzword. It named what people on the front line already know: the need is urgent, the impact is lifelong, and the response has to be collective. The conference brought together voices across sectors, and Suzanne Zeedyk grounded in real stories and real practice, and it made one thing crystal clear we can’t “initiative” our way out of structural under-investment. Intent is not enough without infrastructure. Early, trauma informed support works. We see it every day. With the right help at the right time, young people rebuild safety, confidence, connection and hope. Families stabilise. Schools breathe. Statutory services feel the pressure ease. But here’s the hard truth goodwill is not an infrastructure. Compassion is not a funding model. And resilience should never be code for “cope alone.” If we are serious about tackling trauma, we must be serious about the structures that hold the response: •sustainable funding for early intervention •properly resourced, trauma-trained staff •joined-up pathways across education, health and social care •long-term planning, not short-term sticking plasters We can’t keep expecting charities and front-line teams to stretch beyond human limits while demand rises and resources shrink. That path leads to burnout, broken services, and children left waiting. So yes we need more to do more. Because the cost of doing less is carried by the very people we’re meant to protect. Let’s build systems that match the scale of the need. Let’s act like children’s recovery matters because it does. #TraumaInformed #EarlyIntervention #ChildrensMentalHealth #KeepThePromise #UNCRC #ThirdSector #SystemChange

Today we hosted our Trauma Conference, bringing together people who care deeply about how Scotland supports children and young people to recover, rebuild and thrive. We are feeling proud, grateful, and genuinely moved by the honesty and commitment in the room. The conversations were real, sometimes hard, but full of purpose exactly what’s needed if we’re serious about shifting systems, not just symptoms. Some key reflections I’m holding onto: - Trauma is not a “chapter” in a child’s story it can shape the whole plot unless we intervene early - Healing happens in relationships. Consistency, safety and trust are not soft extras they are the foundation of recovery. - We need joined-up support around children and families. Education, health, social work and third sector partners working together is where meaningful change lives. - Young people’s voices are essential. When services are designed with them, they become more relevant, more accessible, and more effective. At The Miracle Foundation SCIO, we provide trauma-informed counselling and creative therapies for children and young people across Lanarkshire. We see every day that early, relationship-centred support changes lives not in theory, but in practice. Thank you to @suzannezeedyk , partners and attendees who gave their time, wisdom and care today. Your presence is part of the system change we’re building. Let’s keep the momentum going — because every child deserves timely support, the chance to heal, and the right to a future not defined by what happened to them. 💛 #TraumaInformed #ChildrensMentalHealth #EarlyIntervention #ThePromise #UNCRC #Counselling #CreativeTherapies #SystemChange #Lanarkshire #ThirdSector #MentalHealth

When a pupils behaviour becomes more about control, this destroys the basis for healthy development. We focus on the pupil to behave no matter what cost & forget the true nature of development, attachment. Positive bonds & social interactions drive brain growth & development🧠🌱
