India should be able to appreciate every chapter of its history without feeling threatened by it. The Mughals left behind magnificent architecture, art, cuisine, language, and culture. The British left institutions, infrastructure, and the English language—which opened doors for millions, including me. I would not have achieved what I have without mastering English. A mature civilization acknowledges both the achievements and the mistakes of its past. Yet today, too much energy is spent hating what came before us instead of building on it. We should be grateful to the generations that laid the foundations we inherited, learn from history, and focus our attention on creating a better future. The future is full of opportunity. Let’s embrace it rather than remain trapped in endless battles over the past.

So Delhi Gymkhana Club matter gets urgent hearing in the Delhi HC tomorrow and the lawyer is Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi. Ordinary citizens wait years for hearings on real shit like jobs, houses, bail. But when rich members face losing their fancy club on prime public land, boom…. urgent slot ! Rule is simple: Money and the right senior advocate talk louder than any urgency for the common man. Gymkhana gets heard tomorrow. The rest of India keeps queuing. That’s the system.

Institutions such as the Delhi Gymkhana Club, the Bangalore Club, and the Bowring Institute are part of India’s living heritage. For decades, they have been spaces where ideas were exchanged, relationships were built, and intellectual conversations flourished across generations. Rather than creating hundreds more such institutions, it seems shortsighted to dismantle existing ones in the name of national security. A confident nation preserves and expands its institutions; it does not diminish them.

This Gymkhana Club debate is getting out of hand. Some members representing the club on TV debates want the GOI to explain to them the security issue, for them to consider the eviction notice. That would set a dangerous legal precedent. What entitlement!

I see your point but it is a complex matter. Please correct me if I am wrong but at Delhi Gymkhana isn’t 80% of its permanent membership reserved for government officials. 2240 members are Defence personnel and 2240 are bureaucrats? Aren’t a significant number of ministers or former ministers. Was Manmohan Singh a member, Sheila Dixit, Arun Jaitley. Isn’t Rahul Gandhi a member? I would not be surprised if this is a hub for old world Congress party members and ministers. Close to 600 workers- waiters, gardeners, cooks some who have worked at DG for 35 years stand to lose their livelihoods. Nothing to rejoice here. While the rent is wholly inadequate it is not🧵

Club mukt Bharat: India International Centre, Islamic centre aur Habitat Centre ki bhi jameen le lijiye @narendramodi. Sirf jeemkhana ( I mean Gymkhana) se kam nahi chalega. Bharat aur Delhi ka club mukt hona bahut jaruri hai. Kuch log waha se daru pikar desh chalana chahte hai.
