@NivaBupaSupport If Niva received this history from Star (as per IRDAI rules), then on what basis are you rejecting a cancer claim and terminating the policy now?
If your underwriting team failed to check the data, why blame the customer?
We need transparency and accountability.
English

@NivaBupaSupport That stone surgery was already claimed under the previous insurer (Star Health).
During portability, Star must share full medical history with Niva. So please share the Portability Data Packet received from Star Health. Did you already know about the surgery ?

@NivaBupaSupport has terminated my father’s policy (Policy No: 36295417202500) and rejected his Stage-3 bladder cancer claim (Claim ID: 2496302) citing a bladder stone surgery done 2 years before porting.
How is a past stone surgery a valid ground to cancel a cancer claim?
English

@NivaBupaSupport we are hearing that for last 2 months. first you rejected cashless, then you rejected reimbursement and then you cancelled our policy👏

@amitm83 Our team is actively reviewing your request and will provide you with a detailed response shortly. Thank you for your patience. Regards, Keshav

@Niva_Bupa It almost feels like the model is:
1️⃣ Port customers from other insurers
2️⃣ Collect big premiums
3️⃣ Reject major claims
4️⃣ Cancel policy
5️⃣ Blame the patient

Today it’s us.
Tomorrow it could be anyone’s parents.
If insurers keep taking premiums & rejecting claims, what future do ordinary Indians have?
@IRDAIndia please take action.

@Niva_Bupa What is the point of paying premiums for decades if the day you need it, the insurer cancels your policy and denies the claim?
Is health insurance of any value in India?

If @Niva_Bupa believes a customer already had cancer, why would that person:
✔️ Port the policy
✔️ Pay ₹1 lakh upfront
✔️ Risk continuity
✔️ “Hide” anything?
The accusation makes ZERO sense.

@Niva_Bupa My father is undergoing chemo & immunotherapy,
but instead of focusing on treatment, he fears losing insurance & battling the insurer.
This is what @Niva_Bupa has done to us.

We are educated and can fight this injustice.
But what about millions of senior citizens who don’t have support?
How will they survive this system?
@Niva_Bupa has no idea what trauma they are causing.

My father is fighting Stage 3 bladder cancer.
But thanks to @Niva_Bupa, he is also forced to fight a legal battle for the claim he deserves.
No family should fight cancer AND their insurer.

@Niva_Bupa was quick to accept portability, quick to take 2 years of prepaid premium.
But the moment a cancer claim came, they:
❌ rejected it
❌ terminated the policy
❌ accused the patient of fraud

Why would anyone who “knew they had cancer” PORT their policy to @Niva_Bupa, pay 2 years of premium upfront (~₹1 lakh) and hide anything?
It is illogical and insulting to even suggest.

@reallegalwiki We ported with full disclosure. After cancer diagnosis, @Niva_Bupa rejected claim → terminated policy → blamed non-disclosure.

The DCDRC, Mumbai Suburban, directed Niva Bupa Health Insurance Ltd. to pay ₹66.50L to the complainant, after wrongfully cancelling his policy and denying his overseas cancer treatment claim.

@NivaBupaSupport @Niva_Bupa conducted tele-underwriting themselves, reviewed all documents, and STILL approved the portability & collected premiums.(2 years)
If they had concerns, they should have raised them THEN — not after cancer diagnosis.

@amitm83 We're getting this checked and shall get back to you with an update at the earliest. Regards, Keshav

@NivaBupaSupport According to @Niva_Bupa, having:
• Prostate enlargement
• Microscopic hematuria
• Bladder stone surgery in 2022
…means the patient HID a condition related to cancer.
This shows a dangerous lack of medical understanding.
Policy 36295417202500 | Claim 2496302
English

@NivaBupaSupport Legally, customers must answer what insurers ASK in underwriting — NOT volunteer unrelated past medical events.
We answered every one of @Niva_Bupa’s tele-underwriting questions truthfully.
There was no concealment.
Policy 36295417202500 | Claim 2496302
English

@NivaBupaSupport Portability data includes:
• past surgeries
• OPD visits
• previous diagnoses
• and all claims
This is mandatory under IRDAI’s portability protocol.
So @Niva_Bupa claiming “non-disclosure” is false — they had the full record.
Policy 36295417202500 | Claim 2496302
English

@NivaBupaSupport Under IRDAI rules, when a policy is PORTED, the new insurer automatically receives the customer’s entire medical & claim history from the previous insurer.
So @Niva_Bupa already had records of the 2022 bladder stone surgery.
Nothing was hidden.
