NASA will be announcing their newest candidates for astronaut selection early next week. Applicants will be notified of their selection by overnight certified mail. Will one of the lucky ones selected be the first human on Mars? Or beyond even that?

Maybe if, say, Rutte was hospitalized during Covid then appointing a civil servant to run things would make sense.
But doing in normal times it feels Iike a constitutional leap in the dark, and not a very healthy precedent.

Seriously, though, it’s kind of amazing how effortlessly the Netherlands has just slid into a situation where having an unelected leader no-one has heard of before is considered completely fine.

the new Dutch PM has a partner who will soon become“First Lady” - but most of the media doesn’t seem to know her name or anything about her, or even if they’re actually married. Incredible, really. Can you imagine no-one knowing for sure whether Sunak or Biden had a wife?

Too many people with diabetes ration their insulin. I've talked to a veteran that had to share insulin between his sister, niece & himself because they didn't have the money—that is wrong. We should cap insulin costs at $35 a month & allow Medicare to negotiate drug prices.

So it looks like we didn't get away completely unscathed! One of our Amsterdam store's windows blew out in yesterday's #StormEunice and we feared major damage to our books, but a heroic glazier named Rik went out into the storm and placed security glass. Thank you, Rik! 🙏
