@BettyBoochichi2 @SkyNews @metpoliceuk Damned if they do and damned if they don't- The officer appears to be trying quite hard (and reasonably) to protect the public peace - our political leaders could learn a lot!

Quite remarkably @SkyNews have posted this 13 minute video which gives context to @metpoliceuk’s interaction with Gideon Falter. It shows a Police Officer being extremely polite and patient with Mr Falter, as he consistently ignores their explanations as to why he can’t cross the road and repeatedly tries to do so, despite being offered a reasonable alternative. Watch for yourself and decide just who should be the one being criticised right now. news.sky.com/story/sky-news…

Credit where its due to @HalifaxBank complaints dept for the rapid and satisfactory manner in which they resolved an issue whilst I was overseas recently. Other banks / orgs would do well to replicate such a good customer recovery response. Da iawn / well done #Halifax 👏

@MartinSLewis Give them the average % rise which Police, NHS, Army get - surely if its good enough for those at the sharp end its good enough for MPs - notwithstanding their expenses which is their real pay!

Today's Twitter Poll: Which of these would be the most suitable amount to link MPs salaries to? Do we want them better paid as some say to 'attract a higher calibre' or average paid so 'they better understand real lives' Which of these is CLOSEST to your view?

I haven’t slept a wink, so forgive me if this is rambling. Thoughts on yesterday’s judgement. 6 times judges have now been asked to define what a racist is. Still no answer. The court of appeal specifically asked the judge in this case to define the word. And yet she has not. It baffles me as to how a term which has not been defined can be defamatory or not. Surely in order to determine defamation, you would need to know what the meaning of the alleged defamatory term is? The judge has dodged this question by saying that no suffered serious harm has been suffered by myself. If losing your entire career does not meet the threshold for serious harm, then I don’t know what does. It is also now free rein for anyone to call anyone a racist and there’s nothing you can do about it. It also makes the word racist itself utterly meaningless. What the court has decided is that if you are called a racist and you lose your job, you cannot fight back. You cannot defend yourself. You just have to suck it up. Like a playground brawl where someone walks up to another and punches them in the face and you aren’t allowed to fight back or defend yourself. There are several avenues to appeal. I have after all appealed this case before and won, so we shall see. I have to believe the justice system will find the right way in the end. Regardless of this belief, I feel utterly bereft and totally hopeless.

@SteveSpeirs4 Well done Steve - and a great acceptance speech encouraging life-long learning, freedom to make mistakes, and the value of experience and opportunity. Hopefully, the only thing totted up last night was your celebrations!

Has anyone taken a train journey recently that did not involve a litany of excuses and apologies? I was commuting as a kid in the late 80s, and it was better than this. Privatisation has not worked.

You have some front tweeting this. Boris Johnson won his 80 seat majority due to his popularity with the voters. You had more to do with the plot to remove him ⁃taking your instructions from the man you weirdly referred to as ‘the dark lord’ - than you ever had to do with that historic win. Hope your new business is doing well because those legal letters you and others keep sending to try and stop me revealing the information you know, I know, must be costing you a fortune. THE PLOT

The way the Prime Minister and Home Secretary are treating the police is highly irresponsible and damaging. Instead of working with the police, they are making it much harder for them to do their vital job of keeping everyone safe at a sensitive time (1/3)

Not bad for "a little shit place with 3 million people." Now imagine if that "little shit place" with its 3 million people served the biggest humiliation of Australia rugby's history, sending them home early from a World Cup for the 1st time in their history. 🏉🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿😉
