BELLA'S SURGERY we just spoke to the surgeon—her surgery went as well as could be expected. Just a very fossil like disc that gave way when she fell off the bed. She's resting comfortably on morphine like her daddy wishes he had. They'll evaluate her condition tomorrow. If she's doing well-she "might" come home tomorrow- but she'll need to be crated for 4-5 weeks to reduce her walking while she heals. This has been an incredibly awful day for Rebecca and me made so much easier by "all of you" thank you from ALL OF US. Much love!💙💙💙💙👩‍❤️‍💋‍👨

@mikejwhelan I work as a geriatric social worker in another state. Other suggestion: are there vocational Hs or college that could take the ramp as a project? Also check with the local aging service provider- usually free & can connect to resources if there are any that could do something.

ADA CONTRACTOR Today we had a 'disability contractor' come to our tiny 1100 square foot house to see what it would take to make the entire house ADA friendly for Rebecca. I am not in denial that as our days turn into weeks then into months and years her condition will only worsen. I haven't had a drink in almost 20 years but after he left I felt I could have used a double scotch--neat. The truth is at 70, I never imagined this would be my life. I’ve survived three battles with cancer and a life-threatening lung disease—each one leaving a deeper scar, a thinner wallet, and a stronger will to keep going. But now, despite all of my collateral damage caused by cancer, I’m not the patient. I’m the carepartner. My wife, Rebecca, has Parkinson’s disease. It's a brutal, degenerative illness that has robbed her of movement, strength, and on many days, even her voice and mind. And while I no longer sit in infusion chairs or wait for scan results, I now bear a different kind of weight: trying to turn our modest home into a place where she can safely live--forever. We live with our four rescue pets—our emotional lifelines. They offer comfort, humor, and love when the rest of the world seems to retreat. But that world isn’t built for the sick, aging, or disabled. Not really. A few hours ago Rebecca and I met with the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) contractor to assess our home. I expected some minor changes—grab bars, a ramp, maybe a widened doorway. What I didn’t expect was an estimate of nearly $70,000 and a caveat: we’d have to move out while the work was done. That means not just finding temporary housing for us, but for our animals. For us, that’s simply impossible. The contractor explained the breakdown: retrofitting the bathroom, installing a stair lift, redoing the floors for wheelchair safety, building accessible entrances, modifying kitchen counters, and upgrading lighting and electrical systems for safety. These aren’t luxuries. They’re basic human necessities for someone with Parkinson’s. We’ve already lost most of our savings to healthcare costs. Insurance doesn’t cover retrofitting homes for disability. Medicare doesn’t fund ramps, lifts, or widened doorways. Medicaid helps only after you’ve lost nearly everything. Grants? Waitlists are long and most require you to navigate a maze of red tape. It’s a cruel irony—to make your home safe, you must first risk losing it. UGH! Now I have to come up with a plan B. 😪👩‍❤️‍💋‍👨

The only way I would worry is if there is no announcement in November (a big one). So we just have to wait. I’m still saving money each week. Also no one thought this strike would still be happening - very curious what they do if it ends before the movie release.

The following is alleged: People keep asking me if I’ve heard anything else going on with the group behind the scenes. I admit I have wondered too what is happening. I did hear a Christmas-related project was canceled, but everything else I assume is still on.

I'm so tired of hearing this same story GP 'said don't be silly, you're fit & healthy. No one at the age of 19 gets a brain tumour, it's hormonal.' Lucy was made to feel like a hypochondriac, COME ON! We need to take young women seriously. @4myJessBrady dailymail.co.uk/health/article…

@JessicaFaye508 hi! On your podcast, you mentioned an app you use to write down what happened each day & you can see what you did the same day years prior. What is it called? Thanks
