In your 20s, you will make mistakes,financial mistakes, relationship mistakes. You will struggle to figure out your life. This is all part of a learning process that prepares you to be better. I usually relate my story to Kalif Kairo’s. Many people associated my financial struggles with my job as a Warder, but no,it was because of some business mistakes and risks that I took. To be successful, you have to take risks.Before and after the June 2024 protests, besides my activism, I was a successful businessman. I made a lot of business moves. I used to do car hire and owned more than four cars, which were worth over 3 million. I also invested in gaming shops and events. In 2025, my businesses were worth over 5 million in investments, and I used to make more than 200k monthly. But Mimi, I had always been someone who took risks, and there were things I didn’t do correctly. I wanted to grow fast. I bought cars without properly checking them with mechanics. Some cars ended up costing me a lot in repairs,I remember spending over 400k to fix two second-hand vehicles. Also, there were times I operated with third-party insurance… accidents really affected me. I even tried event organizing, where I borrowed money from people. One event was a loss because it rained heavily. By mid-2025, I started going into depression. I went for therapy, and the therapist asked me to write down the mistakes that might have led to my downfall. Here are the mistakes I identified:- -I wanted to grow fast, making quick business decisions without weighing the pros and cons. -I operated my car hire business without comprehensive insurance—a quick path to poverty. -When I had money, I used to attend parties. I never had a drinking problem, but I was a spendthrift when I drank, misusing my money. -I bought vehicles without proper inspections by a mechanic, which ended up costing me big. -At times, I gambled. Something that slowly consumed me. Even when I made 10k from my business, I would try to double it with a “sure bet,” and it would vanish. I have learned from my mistakes. Today, you won’t find me practicing any of the above. My businesses are doing okay, and I am not under too much pressure. My mistakes shaped me When you make a loss, you learn and become a better version of yourself. Kalif Kairo might have taken some business risks,which is not a mistake, It’s just that things didn’t go well, but eventually, everything will be okay. To all young, ambitious folks out there, your failures should not define you. As long as you are hungry for success, you will achieve it. Remember, success is not a destination; it’s a journey with rough roads. Keep moving.
