@TonsOfFun111 @oEspanholl @oEspanholl It was this talk: rubykaigi.org/2025/presentat… The recordings aren't released yet, but I can update once they are :)

Hey @GLMemberCare, the QR code feature of the app is great, but there’s a bug that causes it to be have a pretty big hiccup when entering a club.
If open it while your don’t have internet access, it logs you out! Adds quite a delay when entering a club.
Details and ideas in 🧵

Hey @Jesserockz, would you mind taking another look at this PR? It got closed for staleness, so I can't ping anyone in a comment on it github.com/esphome/esphom…
English

@howardnoakley No problem, haha it's not your fault. Related q (which I think might be the same q):
Is it possible to decrypt an encrypted sparse-bundle "in place" (or into a copy, but preserving the TM snapshots within?)
I turned on compression on my NAS, and encryption completely defeats it
English

@amomchilov Sorry there’s no solution, though. One day we might get a tool to copy snapshots.
English

@howardnoakley Hey Howard! Is there a way to "force" a full-defrag? re: eclecticlight.co/2019/10/19/sho…
As you know, hdiutil compact only works on HFS. I'm hoping that a manual defrag can lower the high-tide watermark of my APFS volume in a sparsebundle, allowing me to compact it
English

@howardnoakley Oh yeah, that does makes sense. Thanks for your help, take care! :)
English

@amomchilov If this is a TM backup, you can’t copy its contents, which consist of synthetic snapshots. I don’t know of any way to copy them.
(And the man page says you would need to add -H to copy hard links. But there’s no option for snapshots.)
English

@howardnoakley That seems feasible. Is there anything special I need to do to make sure all the hard links, permissions and such are all preserved? Is `rsync --archive` sufficient? This is for a netwerk Time Machine sparsebundle, btw
English

@amomchilov The only way I know is to copy the entire contents to another APFS volume, then copy them back into a fresh sparse bundle.
And hdiutil compact *does* work on APFS volumes in sparse bundles too.
English

@vikingosegundo I agree that's generally a problem, but I think in this particular case that the urge ("I want this <data> accessible from everywhere!") is practically *guaranteed* to come up in every single noob dev's path. It's misguided/nooby, but not stupid, IMHO
English

@amomchilov but you are right, I have outgrow SO. 51,423 is a nice number to retire on. You can have the SO of unconditional politeness of today, where not a single question isn't to dumb to be ask, every ego too fragile for meaningful debate. I am fed on it anyway.
English

@vikingosegundo re: stackoverflow.com/q/69774988/314…
Do you know of a good source we could point novices to that would explain the problem/solution in an approachable way?
English

@vikingosegundo Hmmmm, am I the SJW that's after you? 🤔 I think there's some friendly-fire/misidentification going on.
I was genuinely asking: what's a good way to handle a q like that? Idk how to answer a question like that in a way that's actionable and actually gives noobs a path forward
English

@amomchilov ok, it's been too long on SO: a SJW is after me. but without irony and sounding old: there was a time, where that was ok. because it was expected you did all in your power to solve it before bothering others. IMO: a better time. and hints where appreciated, not seen as criticism.
English

@howardnoakley In all your reverse engineering of Console/os_log and its storage format, did you find a way to view another mac's logs from its boot drive? I'm troubleshooting a boot-looping mac, by mounting its boot drive on another mac and trying to look at the logs
English

@jaroslawjarosik @FirefoxNightly I don't even necessarily disagree, but no one will take you seriously if you sound like a jerk.
English

@FirefoxNightly it's so terrible there's nothing to QA there, just scrap it and bring back Australis Compact (photon wasn't good either, but when compared to this abomination it would be acceptable too)
English

The new Firefox interface landed a bit more than a week ago on Nightly.

@luckymarmot Is there any way to share GraphQL fragments across a whole workspace? I find myself repeating myself a lot. I find myself repeating myself a lot.

@amomchilov Hi Alexander!
You can create your own custom file templates. But they will show up in “New | …“, and not in “New | Ruby test | ...”
