This initiative is already making tangible impact across federal institutions. The 4MWp Solar PV Mini-Grid at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital has reached 85% completion since Q4 2025, marking a major milestone. Our audits revealed that institutions spend an average of ₦150 million monthly on electricity and diesel, underscoring the urgent need for sustainable alternatives. In response, the government has deployed 220MW of solar hybrid systems with battery storage nationwide (Phase 1), with AKTH serving as a key pilot. Over the weekend, I joined the Hon. Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr. @KingsleyUdehSAN, for the launch of a 2MW solar mini-grid and 200 solar streetlights at Aliko Dangote University, and attended the National Launch and North-West Deployment of the Energise Commercialisation Now (ECoN) programme in Kano State. I toured the ECN booth at the National Launch and North-West Deployment of the Energise Commercialisation Now programme, where the ECN showcased policy documents and locally fabricated technologies. From the North-West Centre in Sokoto State, we presented solar PV innovations, including a compact mobile generator, assembled modules, a solar-powered humidifier, and a ploughing machine, as well as solar thermal solutions such as a hybrid dryer, distillation unit, water heater, solar cooker, and a wind energy prototype. #EnergyReforms __DAM

Renewable energy is increasingly shaping Nigeria’s development trajectory under the administration of President Bola Tinubu, with stronger policy direction and investment aimed at reducing dependence on fossil fuels. The government has prioritized clean energy as a pathway to economic growth, energy security, and environmental sustainability. Through expanded solar initiatives, renewable energy is helping to bridge Nigeria’s electricity access gap. It is also contributing to job creation across the energy sector. These efforts are attracting new investments into clean energy. A key driver of this progress is the work of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), which is actively scaling up renewable energy adoption across the country. The Commission is advancing research and promoting renewable technologies. It is also coordinating national strategies to accelerate clean energy deployment. Through partnerships with stakeholders, it is expanding access to sustainable energy solutions. These efforts are strengthening Nigeria’s transition to clean energy. #EnergyReorms __DAM
