Sound Update:Students from Commack High School worked to combat single-use plastics via beach cleanups,advocating for alternatives to single-use plastics in their school,& educating their peers.We couldn’t be prouder of these students for taking action to make meaningful change!

Sound Update:Students from Rocky Point High School evaluated the abundance of microplastics in different types of seaweed in the LI Sound. They found microplastics in every sample of seaweed collected-a scary reality when considering human consumption of marine plants & animals!

Sound Update:Students from Brentwood High School researched the effects of nutrient pollution in the Long Island Sound & designed a solution to filter out excess nitrate from sewage waste!We’re blown away by these creative solutions to problems faced within local communities!

Sound Update:Students from Friends Academy investigated methods to grow & propagate marsh grasses to improve the resiliency of salt marshes in the Long Island Sound! We love seeing these hardworking students generate creative solutions to help combat local environmental issues!
