For those on this site who try so hard to convince me and everyone else that Western Tourists are not a constant and radioactive problem for many hobbies and fandoms, ESPECIALLY Anime/Manga... Or how "gatekeeping is toxic"...ok...let me show you "toxic". I want to tell you about the insane and stupid incident surrounding Gachiakuta: -Creator Kei Urana has declared that she was leaving X because of the trashfire of a harassment she had been receiving from so-called Western "fans" over a span of months -She received harassment for the crime of...saying "don't force your headcanon on my works please", "stop tracing my art for your OCs". The Western "Fans" proceeded to attack her relentlessly, calling her every stupid buzzword imaginable from "bigot" "racist" "transphobic" the list goes on. -Her final straw was when she responded to a fun Jabber dance video where someone used leeks/onions for the character's onion hairstyle. AGAIN, the usual Western "Fans" accuse her of being racist...for some reason. -Kei Urana was so sickened with these Narcissistic Western "Fans", using her creation to push their self-important socio-political and headcanon crap...to the point that she cannot even defend her own works without some clowns dogpiling and attacking her for it. -It was SO BAD that even the Gachiakuta's Graffiti Artist Hideyoshi Andou said "fuck this I'm out too" and disabled his account. -Some of the Western "fans" gloated that they chased her off the the site, others downplayed and defended what they did...and a subset of them STALKED HER INSTAGRAM just to keep messing with her. This is why we can never have nice things - and this is why Gatekeeping is extremely paramount and important. Without proper gatekeeping, you have incidents like these, where these Western "Fans", Nuisance Tourists, will make the creator of the thing they are supposedly "fans" of, absolutely miserable. This is so sickening and tiresome.
