📢Publication alert📢 Have cultural motives behind voting choice become more important in West European politics? Well, not moral traditionalism as its relevance for religious and conservative voting decreased in the last 4 decades. All because of religious decline! 🧵

What a day (20dec)! Defended my PhD thesis on ‘social entrepreneurship and the welfare state’ with success! And receiving a black belt ‘young doctor’ made me feel even more happy and grateful! Thank you Tilburg Sociology department, family and friends!

Sad and ironic how so many sanctions won't hurt Putin's regime but will do exactly the opposite and support it. Canceling independent social surveys in Russia is def no threat to the regime. If Putin himself is likely to ban something, perhaps it's not a sanction at all?

@ESS_Survey has banished europeansocialsurvey.org/about/singlene… Russia’s participation. I get the emotions, but I think it may be bad for ESS, for the EU, as well as for European and predominantly liberal anti-dictatorship Russian social scientists. Here is why -> a thread 1/5

@sergsagara I suppose it’s because of Putin’s nuclear threats? Easy to imagine his response to NATO being involved too actively

3. We connect both transformations to religious decline that causes a shift in how problems of social order are framed: from religious framing to predominantly secular 4. Hence, religious societies are divided over morality, while secular societies clash over immigration

1. The divide between religious and secular Europeans over moral issues (abortion, euthanasia…) shrinks between 1981 and 2008 2. At the same time, the divide between the high- and low-educated over immigration, and law and order only gets wider!
