The web was built to be open. Over time, it became hostile. CAPTCHAs. Device fingerprinting. TLS fingerprinting. Bot detection systems built by entire engineering teams whose only job is to keep you out. And yet, you still need the data - to feed your LLM, to track competitors, to build agents that work on the web. So you go find a scraping API. 🧵

We hosted a solo-builder mini hackathon at our office with one challenge: use Anakin APIs to extract web data and build something useful. ~4 hours later, almost everyone had a working MVP shipped. One takeaway: when builders don’t have to fight the data layer, they move fast 🚀 #hackathon #AIAgents #webdata

Came for an interview… accidentally landed in a hackathon with my friend. Met Anakin team there and genuinely loved their idea — using web scraping + wire integration in a really smart way. Funny how sometimes unexpected events give the best learning and ideas. @anakinHQ

Spent an afternoon chasing a small worry: npm install tells you what you added, not whether it’s quietly going unmaintained. So I built OSS Burnout Radar: 9 live signals, agentic web research with @anakinHQ, and one risk score for package health. More soon.

40+ merged PRs across top repos worldwide… every single one started with the same problem - spending days finding a repo that actually matched my stack, was actively maintained, and wouldn’t ghost my PR today I’m building the tool that collapses that to 30 seconds upload your resume + github → get ranked OSS repos with reasons why you’d actually get merged live at @anakinHQ ’s hackathon 🔨 oss-match-ai.vercel.app

Wire gives agents direct API access to websites that never offered APIs. Scrape, inspect, execute via endpoints. Ready-made APIs + Request new ones. Up to 1000x lower cost than browser workflows.

Introducing Anakin Wire! Most websites don’t have APIs. So AI agents rely on browser automation - slow, brittle, and expensive at scale. The workaround era is over.

The web has always been a database. It just never had a consistent query interface. HTML was designed for browsers, not programs that need structured data. Every scrape is a workaround for that gap. Anakin's Scrape and Search APIs treat the web more like a table: pass a URL or a query, get back structured JSON. Rendering, anti-bot handling, and cleanup happen before anything reaches your code. RAG pipelines, agent memory, competitive monitors: they all depend on the web behaving like a readable, queryable store.

RAG pipelines go stale if the retrieval layer is static. One fix: route time-sensitive queries through Anakin's Search API before hitting your vector store. It returns real-time results as JSON, so you can embed fresh content on the fly and blend it with your indexed docs.

Opus 4.7 costs 20-30% more per session now. Cool. So every blocked page your agent retries, every CAPTCHA it silently fails, every hallucinated paragraph filling in what it couldn't actually load: all of that just got more expensive. Anakin's Scrape API returns clean HTML on the first call, anti-bot handling included. Less retry chaos in the context window, less money burned. anakin.io

Developers treat web data as a source they own and maintain. They write scrapers, deploy them, and inherit a second codebase that breaks on someone else's schedule. The better mental model: treat the web as an API you call. Anakin's Scrape, Crawl, and Map APIs sit between your code and the raw web. You define what you want. They handle rendering, auth, anti-bot, and structure. You get JSON. The scraper stops being your problem the moment you stop writing one.

Aphyr's thesis: the web is becoming a machine for manufacturing plausible lies. Your RAG pipeline disagrees. It's still out there, cheerfully scraping, chunking, and embedding. "But we only pull from trusted sources." Sure. Who trusted them?

An agent with no live web access is reasoning over its training cutoff. It can be confident and completely wrong about anything that changed in the last six months. Plugging in Agentic Search gives it a different mode: instead of retrieving from weights, it fetches current pages, reads them, and synthesizes an answer with sources your pipeline can verify. The behavioral shift is real. The agent stops confabulating on recent facts and starts citing traceable evidence. That matters more in production than in demos.

The web is rapidly becoming a hall of mirrors — LLMs trained on LLM output, confidently wrong in all the same directions. Fine if you're scraping for vibes. Less fine if you're building a RAG pipeline and expecting the source to actually know something.

Classic search was built for humans: ten ranked links, you open the likely ones, skim, stitch together an answer. Agents don't handle that well. They can click links, but picking by snippet and synthesizing across pages is exactly where they hallucinate or stall. That loop is what Anakin's Agentic Search automates. One query in. The service fetches pages, reads them, cross-references, and returns a structured answer with the sources it drew from. The shift sounds small but has a real effect downstream: your agents spend tokens on reasoning, not on scraping and skimming.

Want to scrape a site but don’t know what pages actually exist? Sitemaps are broken or missing. Crawlers get lost or blocked. Anakin’s Map fixes that. Drop a domain - get a clean list of every discoverable URL (sitemaps + internal links + JS pages). Use it to map competitors, feed your agents proper targets, or prep large scrapes. Simple. Fast. Reliable. Who else starts with a proper URL list?

Nothing humbles an AI agent faster than a real website. One login wall. One infinite scroll. One sneaky anti-bot. Suddenly your “autonomous” agent is just staring at a loading spinner like it forgot what it came for. We fixed that. Anakin turns any messy site - logins, JS hell, protections - into clean, structured data. Your agents stay smart. The scraping stays invisible. Build faster → anakin.io
