This is something I've heard pretty much all my life. Exactly why in-person attendance is the key metric to measure interest by, I'm not sure. Especially in today's day and age with technology offering so many ways to follow/watch/listen to or "consume" sport. My analogy has always been this: There are millions of people who have never gone to a single concert (or perhaps go to one a year) but listen to music every day in multiple forms on different devices. Do they not count? Does a stadium have to be filled for a sporting event to count as successful or well followed?

Very true sir. Football is bigger in Brazil than cricket in India and there is no contest. Easiest way to compare. The 4th division of Brazilian professional football is known as Série D has average seasonal fan attendance of 2000 people. The season is year long. Compared to Indian first division cricket Ranji trophy having attendance of 500 🤦‍♂️ Syed Mustaq Ali dates slightly better with average attendance of 5000 but remember this is the top division of domestic cricket we have. The IPL and WIPL have much higher attendances but that's only for a short window and a totally new phenomenon. The domestic structure of both countries football/cricket have been existence for generations. This concept was first explored by the team of Talksport Cricket who compared Indian cricket with lower divisions English football and found similar results. To compare the top division English Premier league with Indian cricket is no contest.

My sons Sulaiman & @kasim_khan_1999 applied for visas in January (again… ) to allow them to visit their father @ImranKhanPTI in Pakistan. The Pakistan consulate states that online visa processing normally takes 7–10 working days. It has now been 60 days. This despite the public promise that they could safely travel there to see their father after 4 years, made by both Defence Minister @khawajaMAsif to @mehdirhasan & PM spokesperson @mosharrafzaidi to @SkyYaldaHakim Meanwhile, they are not allowed to speak to him on the phone, nor send him a letter. They haven’t seen him since 2022 after he was shot in an assassination attempt. This is an appeal directly to Pakisan’s PM @CMShehbaz to please allow Imran Khan’s two sons to see their father asap, particularly since, by all accounts, his health is in decline.
