This was tested under dark conditions, their antibacterial activity can be enhanced under visible light irradiation.

@hersonqfbd @LatEnvChemPSE We have tested this heterojunctions againts different type of pollutants such as caffeine, 4-nitophenol, dyes and even anionic compounds. Being multifunctonal materials that can act through different processes. They can potentially be effective against pesticides.

Its persistence and continuous input from domestic and industrial sources make it a marker of anthropogenic pollution, and it is classified in the group of emerging contaminants

@anarkz @LatinXChem Hola Ana Laura, ¿podrías explicarme porqué se retienen los contaminantes en tus óxidos? En las imágenes de SEM pareciera haber materia orgánica pero no logro comprender de dónde proviene y si están estudiando su rol en la retención del contaminante a degradar. Gracias!

@fer_cardinal @LatinXChem En teoría no deberían tener materia orgánica, debido a que los precursores son nitrato de bismuto y etilenglicol pero se realizan lavados y posteriormente se calcina. Me parece que debe ser del mismo material o tal vez por el recubrimiento de la muestra.

@fer_cardinal @LatinXChem Los contaminantes son retenidos debido a que los oxihalogenuros de bismuto tienen una estructura peculiar con láminas de [bi2o2]2+ intercaladas con capas de átomos del halogeno, y al formar la heterounión con el bi2o3 aumentan el área superficial y le dan mayor porosidad.

@Velazquez_Lab Hello Jesús, we were more interested in the efficiency and reuse of materials. Since the adsorption was almost 100% and the solution for photocatalysis was for the reuse of materials, we did not perform this analysis. However, it is a great suggestion that can complement our work
