@ushouldbeontv No. He started working at UC several months after the current series was filmed. Tonight’s ep was recorded in April last year

#universitychallenge seeing as Whitaker works for University Challenge now - is there any jeopardy in this?
English

@KevGeo2011 Q did not say that: it listed the languages she knew, then added that she commissioned works in Irish
English

No way Queen Elizabeth 1 spoke Irish. #UniversityChallenge

Wordle. We spell it fibre. And corer was a disgrace. Have a good weekend @nytimes
English

@adam66Diablo @amolrajan It is a recorded programme. The producers are able to pause the recording and look at the tape at any point.
English

Well done #Durham #UniversityChallenge will surely get another go! Harsh of @amolrajan to take away 5 points for what wasn't an interruption and he allowed a wrong person answer from Oxford Team! We need VAR
English

Since I no longer have the Twitter app installed, I’m afraid this is mostly the end of my quizzy Monday commenting. I’ll miss some of you but I can no longer condone this place. Besides. all the negativity was doing my head in. #universitychallenge #onlyconnect.
English

@robin_statsman @BristolUni @amolrajan @rogertilling What controversy is that? UC is a recorded programme. There is always the opportunity for ‘VAR’.
English

What a performance by @BristolUni in #UniversityChallenge today! Is it too early to say they are the team to beat? And also @amolrajan @rogertilling maybe there needs to be VAR given today's controversy 😉.

@SimoninSuffolk @BBCRadio3 Chorlton (cum Hardy) has seen regular Metrolink since 2011. No churns or porter, tho, and you’d do well to see a cat on a seat
English

The playlist on @BBCRadio3 just now ended with Flanders & Swann's 'Slow Train'. I'm too young to remember the pre-Beeching network, so why do I always well up at 'At Longstanton I'll stand well clear of the doors no more'?

If anyone doubts the fate of those about to be arrested, I represented clients during the 2011 London riots. The CJS was brutal. Bail refused prior to court. People remanded in custody however minor their involvement pending trial at the Crown Court for heavier sentencing. 1/

@BriteEyedViolet 1960 but not a first edition, I think. Off to Wales tmrw - will have a look in used bookshops for you
English

@anarrestom Oh wow! I love that the duck makes the cover. It was such an enjoyable, beautifully written book that I’ll look up that podcast - I’m not usually keen on podcasts either.
English

@BriteEyedViolet Oh wow, finished Trustee just a few days ago. Memorable in a similar way: Beyond the Black Stump, The Chequer Board and Round the Bend
English

@BriteEyedViolet R. Osman discusses Trustee on a Backlisted podcast. I rarely bother with podcasts (too hard to skim) but liked this one

@theresawing70 @RealCounties 🤯
Who are your all time top 3 men / women of Staffordshire?
English

I am just watching the swimming Olympics coverage and they've said Uttoxeter is in Derbyshire. Not right surely? Adam Peaty is on my list of famous people from Staffordshire. Don't ruin this for me. @RealCounties
English

@aliciakearns Patronising non-argument, Ms Kearns. Poor show from you.
English

This shows a complete lack of understanding of why the lobbies are so important and the dynamics of voting in person.
Perhaps wait more than a week of voting to make recommendations on ripping up hundreds of years of practices.

“Let's get rid of the voting lobbies. We could double the physical size of the chamber if you got rid of the voting lobbies” 🟢 @TheGreenParty MP @EllieChowns calls for a commons rules overhaul For more politics content: politics.co.uk/subscribe/ ✅

@DeborahMeaden The right to protest does not include stopping anyone rights, stopping people from going to work, going shopping or going where ever they were planning to go, stopping half the population carries consequences, between 4 and 5 years it seems.
English

@BlackandgoldFT @RoryStewartUK Well worth a moment to read a comment by Rory Stewart. He’s not a time-waster - unlike you
English

@RoryStewartUK Stewart you are yesterday’s man, please do us all a favour and retire to the shadows
English

The change brought by this election is far more dramatic than realised. Only 3/30 members of Boris Johnson’s 2022 cabinet remain in Commons 2 years later - 90 per cent of his leadership are gone. This is a radically different commons. Let’s hope the new MPs improve things…. before they are co-opted by the leadership and whips
Sam Freedman@Samfr
Here's a remarkable stat: There are more people in the Commons who were in Gordon Brown's last cabinet (2010) than were in Boris Johnson's cabinet when he resigned (2022). Five vs three.
English

@RockyWasYer @durnc @withnailjones It’s a money-making concern. ‘Members‘ have zero say. But maybe a scream, a whinge and a contradiction is enough for you, Mr Rocky-bot
English

@durnc @withnailjones No I can see his constituency office doing that.
He's the leader of a Political Party. Does Starmer do that?
