Which number is your current level of setup?

That’s a great question. And I believe you’re a developer. If you build something with AI and it’s functional, you’re a developer. You probably could have done it all yourself but it would take much longer. You know what you want to build. You also know the expected results and take a decision if it incorporates the business rules you specified.

If AI writes your code, do you still deserve the title “developer”?

Which AI coding tool is genuinely the strongest right now? (Be honest) 👀

@svpino Not exactly true. The inexperienced ones, maybe. The experienced devs know what to ask and when to criticize.

Vibe-coders don't give a shit about code. They don't understand it, they don't touch it, and they will never have to deal with it. They care about bringing their ideas to life and nothing else. They are 100% unburden by what many of us consider a showstopper. And that's okay. There's an important lesson here.

I started the crypto-bot project about 8 or 9 months ago. I started it because my son asked me what he could do (useful) if he learned to code. And I told him he could use AI to start learning Python. We started the project and he abandoned me in less than two weeks in but I continued with as it was getting more and more interesting. I would say that the project was 95% built using Claude. I mostly contribute with the ideas of what I want to build and criticizing Claude's proposed solutions (as a backend engineer, I know what I want/need to build and what will work or not). If you're still using AI like a chat, where you ask a question and wait for an answer, you're doing it wrong. I urge you to start a personal project and start using AI tools heavily. About 3.5 years ago, when I was working at a previous job, they released GitHub Copilot and Microsoft Copilot to us. I was super impressed how GitHub Copilot could auto complete large portions of my code. Few months ago I started a project almost entirely using AI. Imagine 5 more years from now. A friend from a previous job asked me if I thought that AI would replace us in the future and I replied "I don't believe that AI will replace us during our professional lifetime, but we'll be replaced by people who knows how to use AI properly". What I've been seen with my own eyes in the recent months is making me changing my opinion. In a conversation with another buddy of mine, who is a Full-Stack Dev, he said "I can't see how my work will still be relevant in 5 years". What are your opinions? I'm eager to hear you all.

@brockpierson I don’t think I would. It consumes too much time. I started it to expose the work I’ve been doing developing a crypto trading bot. We’ll see how this adventure goes. Wish me luck!
